Hi people. I have a question. Are there any perks of being gay, bi, or lesbian? I don't see any perks I have for my sexuality. Do you guys see any perks you have for your sexuality?

Why do people need such things when it comes to sexual orientation? I don't get it. It shouldn't change anything for you but your romantic and sexual life. Don't always think about the disadvantages society sees.

Perks? For me, I learn to be more open minded, and love in greater depth because there are just less fish in the sea for me. Also it's made me react more calmly to events like divorce, adultery, drugs, smoking, drinking, etc...

For me it made me a lot more accepting of different people and lifestyles. People always hate on me for being gay, so I learned never to hate on anyone else for who they are or what life they live. Everything has a right to live. You could be a green lizard alien with scales and I'd probably just take you out to lunch and movie later

My main perk of being Bi is the fact that I can blend in like a chameleon. I can act straight and literally be straight. I learned to be more caring and accepting of others. And I learned that the society as a whole doesn't adhere to the stereotypes about the LGBT community.

Getting to have sex with men.

But like everybody above said, being more open minded and accepting is the main perk I can think of. I think I've only really learned about that since joining EC.

I learnt to see things differently.

Oh, and the maximum possible choice of sexual partners, and the most amount of 'oh, that persons hot' moments.

I think it's pretty special to be gay at such an historic time in the gay rights movement. People born 20 years from now won't get to experience the transition from total ostracism to acceptance. It makes me appreciate allies all the more and learn the value in standing up for people against bullying and discrimination. Also, what others said about no unwanted pregnancy and being able to go out and get laid pretty easily.

like others have said both being a lesbian and having learning difficulties has made me very accepting of others I try not to judge anyone and have friends of every group in society, not having to worry about birth control is nice for me at age 22 but it may be more of a downfall when I want a child in the future and have to go to greater length than most straight couples, and loving and sleeping with women of course

I'll make this simple, but it's more complicated than that, because there are some disadvantages, too (for each of the advantages I bring up):
    - more sexual options/partners and fewer dry spells
    - the simplicity of living alone and reducing clutter
    - no kids, and can have pets, like dogs and cats, instead
    - can focus on friendships and spending time with your friends
    - can structure your own free time

    *thinks*

The only one that comes to mind is inheriting another family. (The community.) It may not be perfect and we often quarrel at times but if help is ever needed, there always seems to be a few outstretched hands to assist one another.

Oh yes, they are amazing perks! It's exciting knowing that my potential girlfriend will also be my best friend. I've never had that feeling when I was dating men, and I think that is what was missing from my relationships. I love the fact that I can share clothes with my girl, do each other's hair and makeup. We can go shopping together and trade fashion tips etc. Not only that, I'm more open minded and accepting of others.
