Are you still able to edit the poll? If so, best to remove the "transsexual" option or make it a multiple-choice poll. Trans* issues are separate from orientation ones. Someone can be a transsexual lesbian, for example, and they wouldn't be able to answer the poll properly.

    Thanks!

I'm going to go through this list point out whats wrong:

Gay, Lesbian: Well, thats obvious. You're making a distinction between genders in one situation, and not in others, not to mention the fact that 'gay' can refer to men and women, and 'lesbian' only to women, so its ambiguous.

Transsexual: First of all, its transgender or trans*. Secondly, one does not cease to have a sexuality simply because one is transgender. If you're making a sexuality poll, remove this option, or if you're enquiring about trans* status/history, remove the sexuality options. If you want to know both, make it multiple choice.

Lastly, you missed out straight. We have straight people here.

Look on the sidebar, for one. And transgender isn't a sexuality...

Who says it´s a sexuality poll?
This is a LGBT forum. So why not look how many are L, G, B and T, or other (which could be straight... duh).

It´s not worth going through the members list, because lots are not active at all.

I think a poll is a good idea and most of us love polls, right, so what the problem?

And transsexual is a word you find in the dictionary. I know why transpeople don´t like it, but there is no reason why he can´t use it.

Then it would need to be multiple choice so that us transgender (a preferable term since many transgender users on EC don't identify as transsexual) folk could list sexuality as well. Being transgender does not render sexuality a moot point...

Why are you so eager to tell your sexuality as well?

Can´t you consider the fact that he is not interested in that, but just how many trangenders there actually are on this forum?

Besides, you can post and give extra info, right?

But hey, I shouldn´t talk for him, it´s just how I see it.

But maybe he´ll change the lot for the trans people.
That would actually help a friend of mine is trying to find out if there are really that much gay transgenders as she thinks there are.:icon_wink

I honestly think it was just a mistake on the OP's part.. Let's not escalate this any further than that please.

Right. Because you're absolutely the authority on gender identity and being transgender.

Because this happens alot on touchy subjects?

Because it happens when people think they're able to speak for a group they're not a part of and can't realize the absurdity of their argument.
