What's the deal with using St James as last name? I Googled it and couldn't find the answer. In fact I found this forum where it was left at almost a stupid question and just coincidence. Personally im not gay but am in community daily and just want to know? It is is a real "thing ". I asked a drag queen why she used it but she just laughed and said Google it. :help:

    Around here, it's "St John".

    As a first name.

    Pronounced "Sin-Jin".

    And SPELLED "Sin-Jin".

Well there's a difference between drag queens using it and gay people in general using it. I've never heard of it, but I think that a gay porn star minor character in some comedy film was known as Brandon St. Randy so the saint part might be a recurring theme. I think it's just a particle that gives a surname some "oomph"; with James, it's just two equally stressed syllables which makes it punchier sounding I suppose.

That said, I just googled "st james drag" and found one James St. James.

Marc St James from Ugly Betty. Sorry, had to be said. I'm honestly not sure whether his character started the trend or just bought into it though.
