To all of you Canadians out there HAPPY May 24 weekend. Well more like May 17 weekend but we call it May 24 because we are too lazy to celebrate next weekend. Hahahah For those who don't know what May 24 is A.k.A those who have not been blessed to be born in such a wonderful and free land as Canada. It's the day where Queen Victoria decended from the heavens and brought Two-four cases of beer for all the early settlers. And from then on it was said that on this weekend for an extra day there hath be no work, only party. (*WINKS at other Canadians..Shhh they don't know any better...*) It's like St. Patricks day but better cause the mythical beast Bevtaur (have beaver, half horse, half human) comes and delivers beers upon beers to every Canadian who has been good (so pretty much every Canadian). And also it said that Canada accumulates the most power this day and it has a radiant glow that can be seen from outer space. However all of this isn't nearly as spectacular as Canada Day or Walrus Appreciation Day (patent pending).
My how time flies - why I almost forgot to make preparations for this year's merriment. It should be noted for all you non-Canadians, that a few years back Bevtaur attracted some controversy in his policy of giving beer to every good Canadian, regardless of age. This of course meant that the Crown had to press charges against the half beaver-horse-man for liquor violations. The people of course were outraged and used their right to peaceful protest with vigor! The matter went to the Supreme Court where it was eventually decided that, (i) because of the royal origin of the celebration, royal ascent was implicit and (ii) since the Queen descended from the heavens, we must allow the celebration to continue and be in the spirit of the preamble to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms: Needless to say, the liquor laws were amended and retroactively declared unconstitutional. So ends today's history lesson. Have a safe and happy May 24 weekend everybody!!
I have no idea what I'm doing on the 17th but in true Canadian fashion I'm going to have a few beers and see Rush on the 24th! Happy Victoria day everyone whenever it finally gets here.
*decides to show her appreciation for Canada by listening to her Barenaked Ladies albums, watching some Terrance and Phillip themed South Park episodes and eating Kraft dinner*
I've got a lovely case of beer....there they are standing in a row... And some rum...But I've got some good ole Ontario brewed Lakeport. Thanks again Bevtaur!

I realize that i was wrong in some other post for criticizing some fellow Canadians for becoming "Americanized". In fact Queen Victoria was born on May 24 but 50 years ago somebody decided that her birthday would be celebrated on the first Monday before the 25th. My apologies.:icon_redf
I had a good long weekend, I just took it easy, didn't party, didn't get drunk. Had some good meals over the weekend and on Sunday my family went out for a nice drive.
Thanks Ty! I love the British national anthem. That was a great rendition. And yes - It's great to be Canadian! I made the pilgrimage to the cottage - but only for part of the weekend. Boats are in the water, lawn furniture is out... let the summer begin!
