It's equally stupid when those same jerks say gays/lesbians getting married is wrong, but will watch lesbian porn without an issue. And openly admit it as well!

Idk I guess it's because they think they can get it on with two lesbian chicks (whereas they wouldn't be down with it anyway), but gay guys are somehow a threat to masculinity or something like that. I dunno, I've lost track of all the really dumb arguments I've seen in opposition to gay marriage and gay/lesbian/transgendered/etc people.

I just hate homophobes, especially hypocritical homophobes.

The amount of prejudice i have toward intolerant or hateful groups is astonishing. I dont care if i need to ductape the mouths of everyone i see, if we all just shut up and get along that would be fabulous. Even if that means that is wrong somehow, we will all be happier if we can persue happiness in peace.

Oh, I know, it really pisses me off, too. But I don't want us to think for a moment it makes it harder to be a gay or bisexual man than a lesbian or bisexual woman. (Trans* and genderqueer people get their very own special kind of bad that many of us can't really even imagine.)

The people who say that don't like or accept lesbians either. They still think lesbians and bisexual women are committing sin. It's just that in addition to that, they make them into sexual objects (beyond which they already consider women in general).

I only say this because I definitely think this is something worth being angry about, and I completely agree, but I also think that the sexism it implies should be part of that conversation...

I've just assumed that there are straight guys out there who accept lesban porn because there's sex going on, but no male involved to distract their eye or make them feel inferior.

I cant imagine being a lesbian and loosing friends in that situation, though i dont think it is any harder or easier being a lesbian than gay. Both have their own comparitable tradeoffs. Though i agree with you that being trans is definatley a lot more difficult to come out as and find acceptance for being.

Well it's true, male homosexuality has usually been the primary target of homophobic hatred, while lesbianism has been seen more as a curiosity and a sexual fantasy for straight men. Two lesbians kissing on the street are more likely to get straight men staring at them and oogling; two gay men kissing on the street are more likely to get beaten up into a bloody pulp.

This discrepancy has manifested itself in many ways throughout history. For example, in the Soviet Union, Josef Stalin criminalized male homosexuality and sent gay men to die in labor camps in Siberia, but the Soviet government actually encouraged lesbianism because it was thought that lesbian women would be tougher workers and soldiers to serve the nation.

So generally speaking, lesbians are seen as women trying to act like men, and thus they are elevating their status, whereas gay men are seen as acting like women, thus lowering themselves to womanly behavior.

Plus for some strange reason, a lot of homophobes out there hear the word "gay" and immediately think of gay men having anal sex, which apparently repulses them greatly, even though they choose to spend so much time thinking about it.

All the more reason to be out and proud.

It seems, the majority of straight men like to keep a healthy distance, even if they're neutral towards homosexuality. They have to distinguish themselves with phrases like "no homo" and "I don't swing that way" whenever someone might suspect them, but it's all ego.

We have at least two straight female staff members on EC, but it would be nice to see at least one supportive straight guy on the team. They're out there, I just wish they were more visible and outspoken, to show the rest that it's not that big a deal. The majority of assaults, rapes, and murders committed against LGBT? Straight men.

Ok I tried to find the clip, but I can't find it. So the script will have to suffice. This is from the show Coupling.

So really this explains why gay porn is better that straight porn. I don't know if I still have it, but back in college, I wrote up a joke paper on the efficiency of porn. It was complete with graphs, formulas and everything. I concluded that the most efficient porn was homosexual porn of the viewers sexual preference. As if you have person(s) of the opposite sex, no matter many people involved in the sex act, you would only asymptotically approach but never equal the efficiency of gay porn.

Now my conclusion was a bit flawed, as I did not take into account bisexual people. I'd have to sit down and do the math, but I think the most efficient porn would be the ratio of the participants sexes woud be equal to the viewers Kinsey rating. Now this would not take into account gender.

That makes the problem a lot harder. And would involve math I've long forgotten. Really once you take all of the variables into account, this becomes rather complex. I think there is enough here that you could come up with a master thesis on the efficiency of porn.

Funnily enough there is a sizable number of lesbians and straight women who prefer to watch gay male porn because it is seen as the most authentic and romantic (since most of the actors are actually gay and into what they are doing), whereas lesbian porn is seen as the fakest sort of porn, since many of the actresses are straight and just putting on a show for money. (And lesbian porn is usually geared more toward pleasing straight men than actual lesbians)

Also the guys in straight porn are usually ugly and don't get much face time. Whereas guys in gay porn are both hot and attractive and are into each other, getting an even amount of attention as if they were a couple.

Even this asexual girl I know is addicted to gay male porn, for all of these reasons.
