I'm sure this question has already been asked, but I can't find it. What is your occupation? What do you do for a living?

I am currently completing a degree in Web Development at the University of Worcester, going into my third year and working part time at my local H&M store in Birmingham

Customer service at an airport, while simultaneously working on my degree in Finance and Banking. It gets rough sometimes though lol.

You guys with your career paths and focus and such...

I work at a supermarket. I hate it.

I have 3 incomplete degrees but am not studying at the moment.

I'm an intern (fingers crossed that I'll be brought on board fully soon!) at a web data storage company. I have an Associate's in web development and have just now joined the workforce in the field of my choice. For years, I worked at a grocery store (awful for me) and my community college (as a writing tutor, much better). My current job involves plenty of Perl, JavaScript, and making things interact with out-of-box software programs.

I was a stay-at-home mom for many years, a preschool teacher on occasion and am just getting back into the work force working with disabled adults.

Your comment made me think of my son. he's 8.. he said he wants to be a professional football player. I asked him what else, just in case that didn't work out... his response was:
"An engineer or a cashier at Wal-mart..either one". It made me giggle.

Do you intend on going back to school or are you planning on climbing the ladder at your current location into management and such?

Three years ago I was a professional drummer, teacher, author and columnist for a major music magazine.
Now, I work part-time in a supermarket on minimum wage. I'm timed, and I hate every second of it as I earn less than I pay out in rent each month.

Hopefully things will get better one day.

The image I use here is of an assemblage I made. "The Gaze" (think, Lacan).I make asseblages from things I find on the street, and also make paintings and fusion pieces (assemblages and painting combined).
On a recent walk, I started to make a count of survailence cameras. Within a few blocks, I gave up... just too many. Started thinking about The Gaze & remembered that piece--made last year at this time. The frame once held an old photo--of my mother. Her signiture can be seen at the top, signed with her maiden name. All these things came together--that we are made into objects every where we go by those cameras... the images of which remain hidden to us. We are not permitted to see into the mirror, simultaneously turned into Things and erased. Seemed the perfect... not even a metaphor or symbol, but the very reality of our Late Capitalist Empire of Money and Death.

During the school year I just focus on school and don't work, but during the summer I intern at different places.

  16. High school student, pretty much. I occasionally do volunteer work, but the thing about volunteering is you don't get paid :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

When/if their approved, I created an album of my art work (no identifiers, so hope will be ok). This is my passion and my life, co-equal with my sexual identity.

My art helped mark my way to reclaiming my childhood... and my coming out, so seemed appropriate for this site.
