Left handed??

I've read on a number of websites that left handed people are more likely to be gay.

This year, three Canadian scientists published a study which found some connection between left-handedness and homosexuality.

Analyzing a number of studies, their paper concludes that male homosexuals are about one third (31%) more likely than heterosexuals to be left-handed, while lesbians are almost twice as likely (91%) to be left-handed as heterosexual women.

The authors say that their findings support the notion that sexual orientation in some men and women has an early neurodevelopmental basis. They trace this to "disruptive events causing developmental instability." These events may modify sexual differentiation of the brain, they say, "perhaps through hormonal or immunological mechanisms."

Interesting... I thought it would be good idea to poll it and see if it supports this research. I also found some general info on left-handedness to compare our results to as a control.

For years, it has been widely accepted that 1 in 10 people are left-handed. However, research studies of a reasonable size to back up this figure are very hard to find. Recently, small studies (usually among children) have come up with figures of between 12% and 15% of the population and it has been argued that perhaps this increase is due to social acceptability of left-handedness which has never before been the case.

Personally, i'm right handed.

I'm left-handed. I only use a computer mouse right-handed.

There's a LOT of lefties here.

^In response to the quote in the first post, my dad was left-handed too, but his teachers made him use his right hand so now he's "right"-handed.

I still play my violin the same way as everyone else, Mike. I'm confused. You can still play the same way.

Similarly to sexuality, some people are between two ends of a spectrum regarding handedness.

I can't accurately vote in your poll because I'm mostly right-handed, but not exclusively.

Yeah, sorry i didn't cater for people who aren't one or the other, but that would make it difficult and also is not that common.
