Gay. To me, Kinsey 5 implies someone who's basically gay with a few exceptions. But others may feel differently, so if someone who's a Kinsey 5 feels that the label bisexual works well for them then they can use it.

I think it's whatever the person in question wants it to be. I want to respect whatever label people choose to use for themselves.

Almost outdated, in some sense? Groundbreaking in ways, but another box, in others?

I used to be Kinsey 5, and I was gay but curious. I thought I'd like to have sex with a girl just to say I'd done it, but I'd be gay going in and probably even more gay coming out.

You never heard of the Kinsey 5? They're a really popular up-and-coming group.

I think it's basically gay, while still being open to kissing/fooling around with the opposite sex just for the hell of it. People who are Kinsey 6 are in no way open to the idea.

I think it depends on the person and how exactly their attractions to different genders manifest.

But on this topic, I would say that 5 probably counts as gay, even though it is technically somewhere on the bisexual spectrum. Of course there's a lot of grey area, and it's up to an individual to decide how to identify themselves. But bisexual overlaps with both gay and straight, depending on which side one leans toward.

I'm personally Kinsey 5 and I'm not bi. I consider myself gay. To me, bi is someone who falls somewhere closer to the middle. I find very few guys attractive. It's so rare that when I am, I often do a double-take at them.

I think it means you're gay with some straight encounters.

The Kinsey scale altogether is incredibly idiotic. Does the difference between a 5 and 6 really matter?

Quoted for agreement, but I think it does matter. I voted something else because you can be technically bi with the rare attraction to women but commit yourself to guys and live a "gay lifestyle." So you are functionally gay while truthfully on the fringe of bi.

My in-depth answer would be it all depends on your pursuit of either the "bi" or "gay" label.

I actually consider myself to be a 5 on the Kinsey scale and I'm currently in a relationship with a woman. I've been with men in the past, but I'm pretty context with who I am now. And I'm pretty sure I'm gay; there's this website that opened my eyes a bit more and I thought I'd share it with you all The Bisexual Index | Bisexuals aren't all Kinsey 3s

I think Kinsey is silly and arbitrary.
