Basically, there's this girl who I used to be rather good friends with, but her family moved to Scotland last year, so she wasn't with us in school. This year, she's moved back with her dad, so she's moved back to school. I just got this facebook message from her: "Also just on a quick and random side note I have a lot of respect for you coming out, that must have been hard. I know that's a tangent but I've been meaning to say it, you're really brave to do that in my opinion" It just made me smile. Massively. Just the fact someone who I haven't seen for a year, says that she has respect for me. I knew coming out at school wasn't a massively personal experience - I did it because there is literally no support, or mention of LGBT issues. So if one person who is confused, who is questioning, can see me out and happy in my school, they might feel a little bit better and not be so scared. Just yeah. I'm on such a high now...
That's wonderful. My friends were all over me to support me when I came out. It's good that she was so kind. It must have felt great.
That is fantastic. It would have made my day to. It's so reassuring and uplifting to hear peoples success stories like this.
