Do any of your family/friends know you have an EC account?

Pffff, no one of my acquaintances even knows I have got an account here - it would be crucial to me at the homophobic school of mine... I wish I could tell anyone about this page...

 

I haven't told anyone, because part of being a member to me is being able to say whatever I need to with some anonymity.

 

I told three sisters that I've been a member of an extremely supportive LGBT forum for nearly a year. I think they're happy that the struggle isn't something that I'm having to deal with alone.

 

My husband, my sister, and some of my coworkers know. That's really it.

 

I don't know if I told any of my family members.. I might have, but I don't remember. I know my boyfriend knows, though

 

Nope, I don't really feel a need to tell my friends I'm out to about this site, they probably wouldn't care :lol:. Plus, I'm not out to family so... yeah, haha :lol:

 

My brother and mother know. He doesn't care. She isn't happy about it.

 

I have no reason to tell anyone, and I'd rather they didn't find out. It's none of their business.

 

Certainly not, tho my sister almost caught me once when I left a tap open on my iPad. I took it from her just in time.

 

Nope. Although I am out to my family and they are totally cool with it, they are totally against the idea of me communicating online with people I don't know, whether it's Facebook, Instagram, or forums like this. So, although they are cool with the fact that I like girls and all, they would probably freak if I had an online account.

Kind of funny, isn't it?

This is also kind of the place where I can ask questions that I wouldn't want other people to know I have...

No way, man. I prefer to keep these sorts of things private so I don't have to worry about what I say.

Actually it's not funny or weird. It's easy to fool or mislead even adults via the internet. You have no idea who you are talking to right now, you can't have. I could be the old lady who lives in your street. Or I could be a 13 yo boy. We can talk for months and you will have no idea if I am a man or a woman, if you know me in real life or if I live thousands miles away. Internet can be a great place, but it can be also very dangerous because it's anonymous.
Be careful though because that anonymity is also limited. Google finds everything and if someone wants to and you are not careful, people can connect every board you are writing too, your blog and other things. Always think twice what you write about yourself and stay safe.

 

I did mention it to my friend and then I mentioned that I'm on an LGBT forum to another one of my friends. If they want to know what forum, I say...I don't bring it up out of the blue.

 

I mentioned to my friend that I "joined a forum for LGBT" when I came out to her, but didn't specify by saying it was EC. Other then that, nobody knows.

 

My family knows that I'm on a "support" site. I just didn't specify which kind of support this site gives. They also know that I've made some friends from this site.

 

No one... Im more likely to meet someone from ec in real life (via private chat of course...) than bringing someone i know from real life to EC, because bringing someone here would limit my anonimousity and therefore what i can talk about here.

But still is unlikely for me to go on meeting someone from here for safety reasons...

 

Most of my friends and my parents know that I have an account here. Nobody really cares though.
