Default Darts in The UK

I've just been watching on the Sports Channel this dart championship in England someplace. There's thousands of people in this huge hall all drinking beer and yelling .

Is this really popular? Does anyone go?

I watched a darts competition on ESPN once. I honestly could not stop laughing.

But is it seriously considered a sport?

Pub sport. It's like snooker or pool but on a smaller level.

My uncle once wanted my dad to record the whole 5 hour session in Newcastle just to see if he might be on TV.
