So Halloween is coming and this year my mom mentioned maybe going as a nurse, even though I am guy... I am kind of down to do that, but I was thinking maybe I could just show up to school (school day on Halloween) wearing heels and a wig or something. I'm not the most confident and honestly it scares me to death thinking of doing it, but at the same time I kind of want to do it because I hate some gender stereotypes I hear at school, and I just want to show people if they wanted to they could show up in a pair of heels regardless of gender.

So the dillema is that I am a bit shy, while normally I am the life of the conversation and classroom I feel very nervous about showing up dressed as a different gender. After that comes the decision of how far do I go, should I just make the point subtle by wearing only the heels, or go all out? I just want to know what you think and if I should or not.

Go for it. I think you should go all out on this one.
Why are you nervous about it, though?

"In for a penny, in for a pound". If you're going to do it, might as well go all the way.
If you go to college, you'll probably have to cross-dress anyway for an initiation (if you take part in it that is). Glad mine was cancelled! xD

Also, yay! Another member who lives in Montreal!

Go for it. I've seen several guys go as girls for Halloween, and it was always a good experience for everyone involved. Might as well go all-out, it's Halloween.

Go all out, I went as a girl for Halloween one year, and I was thinking about doing it again this year. You have nothing to lose. If anything it will only make your confidence stronger. That's what happened with me.

    Go for it...

If you don't feel confident enough to go just like that, you can always dress up as the Joker in that nurse garb to see how you feel and how things go, and try to go more "female" next year :icon_wink

You're already out, so there's not that much fear in homophobia. I'd say go for it. In High school, there was a really out gay guy at my school who made almost every gay joke on the planet and trashed stereotypes by making fun of them in ways like this. So while your approach might not mirror his, I'd say do it.

It sounds like a fun idea! I'd totally dress in drag for a function.

I dressed up at G.W. Bush for school one year and got lots of flak for it.
I dressed up as Tourettes Guy from YouTube and nobody knew who I was.

So I have been to both spectrums and I honestly would love people coming up and asking why I dressed like a chick. It would be hilarious.

Since they know, I guess it wouldn't matter.

On the other hand, if you plan to "trick or treat" or attend another party, would doing your costume thing there suffice?

Actually, it would be safer to do this at a private party rather than wandering around a neighborhood.

    Your call.

Halloween is the one time that is it about costumes and not gender and guys can dress up as girls, no probs.

Also, in day to day life, guys can wear heels. It´s fashionable.
Actually, there are two guys (Namie Wihby and Jay Alexander) that teach a lot of celebs and models to walk well on heels, and they wear heels in day to day life too.

If your into it go for it. It's halloween even the star QB could get away with wearing a dress. Besides judging from your answer to 'out status' it looks like you are already out so there are no worries there.

I'm literally the only one who said no.. It could have some major repercussions if you went to school like that, plus you might literally just burn a shitload of bridges. I mean, if you want to do it, it's on you, but I'm just thinking about the consequences.

Yes, but the odds are against him, because even in the most accepting of places, the school system and its inhabitants aren't always fully mature or accepting of things they don't perceive as normal. If you're gonna do this I'd prepare yourself for the worst, because if it doesn't happen, it'll only be all the better.

It's Halloween, not a life or death situation. Don't be overdramatic.

Go for it, Northern. It'll all be in good fun! I had a few peers dress as woman (heels and skirts) for Halloween and nobody ever blinked an eye past a laugh at how funny of a costume it was.

I think for school I'm going to go wearing heels with normal clothes, and later on in the night switch to something more risque.
