Do you think everybody is 100% male or female?

As we know, nobody is really exactly straight, or exactly gay, so I was thinking about how men and women might not be exactly well, men or women. This also might be why some people are very masculine or feminine.

No. There are genderqueer people, who may identify as androgynous or a third gender or a mix of genders or something else. There are also intersex people, who may have ambiguous genitals, odd chromosomal sex, and other biological differences like that. Gender expression is different to both of these, and people who are 100% male or female can have unusual or ambiguous gender expressions.

In short, humans are complicated flavours of fabulous. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Maybe a better question is 'is anyone 100% male or female?' or 'is anyone 100% masculine or feminine?'

I think there are people who are as 100% male or female as I am 100% not just one.

I'm not sure anyone 100% adheres to ideas of masculinity or femininity.

Nope; because no absolutes exist. Proven scientific fact.

No, there are a ton of people that are in between male and female or even just outside the binary completely.

Nah. People are more complex than that. They may lean one way or the other, though not everyone does of course.

I don't wanna sound really like, sheltered or anything... I think it's because I've just never got to know someone who is trans or genderqueer... but I don't understand how to feel male or female? Like, I've honestly not thought about it until joining this forum and it's all pretty new to me.

I bluntly don't know what defines a male or female in terms of gender!

Yey for feeling like an idiot.

But yeah, before having this explained to me, I feel 100% female, I guess?

No. I don't believe in the male-female binary.

I think in my mind I believe everyone is 100% one or the other. However I respect and love everyone no matter what they think they are

I think we all have our "opposite sex sides," but I've always been skeptical of the whole "genderfluid" and "genderqueer" labels.

This is without a doubt the best line in this thread.

    ------------------------------------------------

As others have said, there are plenty of people who fall outside the typical binary. So no, I would say that everybody is not 100% one or the other.

I'm glad you guys know our experience better than we do. I guess we're just lying or full of shit or something.

I think people are whatever. I mean, what makes me a male? Is it because I have a penis and I'm comfortable with it? That's pretty basic stuff. I think people either care or they don't. If they care, they come out as genderqueer etc. but if they don't care they don't question it so they never assume they're something else.

It's not that we fail to meet the criteria. It's that male and female are inherently flawed terms unable to adequately express human identity.

I see it as a spectrum where no one falls completely on either end.
In terms of physical sex, no. Everyone's bodies are different no matter what you were assigned at birth.
And in terms of gender, there is no hard-and-fast rule about what exactly you are. Everyone is just themselves, isn't it?

Don't feel dumb. I am trans and sometimes this stuff's hard to make sense of to the point where I can put it in words.

The best I can put it is, it's kind of like squirting some red paint and some blue paint on a pallet and then halfway mixing 'em together. One part is stuff on the outside like girls have long hair or like certain colors, one side is just hormonal and how you feel on the inside. And most of it is mixed, like crying during movies.

I can kinda cheat and use science a little here, guys have more estrogen when they're around a woman who is crying, or they're under lots of stress, and women have more testosterone when they're "in the mood", or when they've just had some coffee. So you can use that to kinda sorta figure out how the other side feels on the inside.

But it's all basically a huge mess :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
