    Dear EC,

    I found this site when Googleing something, and one of the search results was on the "For Parents" page of a website I thought had a catchy name: Empty Closets. I clicked on the forum and after reading a few threads, I was hooked and I signed up.

    Five months later, words can't express how thankful and grateful I am that I have such a great community, even online and as anonymous as we tend to be, that's always there for each other, both in our darkest hours and in our best moments. To quote John Kerry, "I wish that I could just wrap you up in my arms and embrace each and every one of you individually."

    I love you all, and I just wanted to make sure you guys knew that, and that you knew how grateful I am to have you. Some of us may not get along all the time, but I still love you guys equally. The feeling of family I get here is something I've never really felt before in my real life.

    Instead of signing off as AwesomGaytheist or AG, I'll literally sign off.

    Hi AwesomGaytheist! Wow, this is a really heartfelt letter! I've seen you around the forum and you seem great. :slight_smile: I feel the same way about EC. I've admitted some stuff on here that I've never said to anyone; it makes this community really special.

    On your unrelated note, your handwriting isn't that bad. It won't win any penmanship awards, but it's legible, so that still good. :icon_bigg

    Most people see the title "Open letter" and think, "Oh my god, they're LEAVING!?!?!" No, I'm not going anywhere, I just wanted to remind you guys for the millionth time that I love you guys.

    It's always really nice to hear that the community is working and benefiting people in meaningful ways. That is definitely what Seth and JD intended when they set up the community almost 10 years ago... something to provide support that neither of them had growing up. And that's grown into what's now a full fledged nonprofit organization that wouldn't exist without the participation and contribution of all of the members that make it what it is.

    So... thank *you*, AwesomeGaythiest, for your contributions as well, because it is exactly because people like you come and post and ask and answer questions that this community is what it is :slight_smile:

    Yes, but very infrequently. Seth is on EC's board and provides input and insights toward our long-term direction, goals, and policy, and posts very occasionally (more often in staff area than in the public forums.) JD is around even less, but serves in an advisory capacity.
