Do you think he's only talking to me for the money?

a guy I have/had a crush on has started talking to me more than usual.
He lost my book (that belongs to the school) and paid me back for it.

There is a possibility that someone turned in the book so I said if they find it I'll return his money to him.

So that was 2weeks ago. Before that he rarely replied to texts, emails, or picks up the phone when I calls. Now he's sending ME messages when before it killed him to reply.

The one time he sends me a text its about the money situation : l

In the hallway when he sees me the first thing that comes out of his mouth is the book.

Is he trying to get in my good graces so that he'll get his money back?
I would readily give it to him if they find my book but I don't think he knows that.

I just hate when people are fake nice. If I'm a burden to talk to then I would rather not be around.

One easy way to find out - pay him back. Even if you don't get the book back.

yeah but then I would have to pay out of pocket just because I wanted to test how genuine he is. Not worth it lol

He'll probably forget about me after the book thing is done with. Oh well.

Why not ask, then? "Look, you seem pretty intent on getting your money back. Should I just give it to you anyway?"

Greed... lovely... shown on both sides. If I could pay 90$ to find out how truly genuine a crush is to me then I might actually do it, but then again I'm not 15 so I kinda got more money.

But yeah turns out he's not as bad as I thought.

They found my book so I gave him back the money. He was so happy it was funny.
Today was the last day of school and he goes. "dude, we have to hang out over the summer" his face didn't have much expression and l couldn't look in his eyes long enough to see if he was just saying that. I hope he meant it.

Oh and can you PLEASE tell me how I was being greedy. I don't see it.

I knew that. (Not really) But i thought he was saying we were both greedy but yeah.
