About a block away from me sits a pottery shop that sells flags also-some flags are featured outside, such as the US flag, and also a rainbow US flag. But suddenly, I walk by one day, and it's there, but the next day it's gone. what? I wonder, why would the flag be brought down? Did the get criticized a lot?

Yeah, it's always a mistake to jump ahead on assumptions. Perhaps they sold out, and someone bought the "display model" (a New Order fan, probably). Perhaps they just revamped the display. Feel free to go in and ask. But prepare to buy one if they dig one up for you. Lex
