If you don't know what Wendigo Psychosis is, a little reading will clue you in pretty quickly.

5 Mental Disorders That Only Occur in One Place on Earth | Cracked.com

The link above will give you a basic idea of what WP is.

Now, I like to go over to the help & support forums to see if there are any topics that I could really help out with due to past life experiences or just particular knowledge of what is being asked.

One thing I notice a LOT is that many people who are questioning feel as though once they get a hint that they might not be straight, they assume they're gay and their whole world has been a lie.

Much like a person with WP is put into a situation and feels like they will kill/eat their friends and ends up convinced they are a Wendigo, straight people who have a dream with homoerotic elements freak out and fear that they will kiss/sleep with/seduce their friends and turn gay.

I guess this is just sort of an observation.

Hiker gets lost and runs out of food.
Fears that the hunger will drive them to kill their friends and eat them.
Ends up convincing themselves that they are a monster who must have human flesh.
Turns into said monster and kills friends even if they are close to food/rescue.

Straight guy has a dream about having sex with one of his friends.
Fears that he might be gay and becomes awkward around his friends.
Convinces himself that he is gay because he masturbates or can orgasm from gay porn and can't look at a guy because then he thinks "He's cute, I might want to have sex with him. Oh God, I AM gay!"

Many of the threads include the OP saying that they avoid their male friends because they are scared of what might happen. People with WP would also try to avoid their fellow humans because they are scared that they may end up eating them.

I just find the link between the two interesting. IDK, maybe I'm over analyzing everything.

I think this actually comes from the culture we live in that puts people into little boxes: If you're a guy, you like women and you do guy things and like guy things. If you're a girl, you like dudes and you do girly things and like girly things.

See? Isn't that simple? Now, everyone's day's done.

Except it's not. There are people who do forget that bisexual people exist, and there are people who don't even believe that bisexuals exist. Why? Because what we know from elementary biology, the "male" is attracted to the "female". That's the case with every single species on Earth. Who made you? Mommy and Daddy did, that's right. So there obviously must not be any other way. Thankfully with each generation, this mindset seems to go away more and more, and people are starting to realize that, hey, this isn't all something so simple. Things can be more complicated than we take them for, and things like this shouldn't be taken at face-value.

Still, we live in a society of dichotomies. And because of that, it's hard to detract from what's shoved in our face day after day.

What I'm saying is this isn't really so much Wendigo Psychosis as it is that they're being "trained" by a much larger source.

I suppose, but isn't it the same way with cannibalism? We are taught from childhood that even though other people are animals, mammals, and made of meat, we DON'T eat them. To even kill another person is taboo. So it's kind of similar to what you're describing. Even though men are people, you don't have sex with other guys because it isn't what everyone else does.

That is how the psychosis starts. You feel like no matter what you do, you might end up killing and eating your friends or you might end up sleeping with the same sex. In one case you end up a Wendigo and the other you end up a homosexual.

Honestly, I don't know what was up with that dude. He didn't EAT any of the flesh he ripped off that guy's face. I don't think he had WP though, since he wasn't in the situation that usually causes the circular thoughts to begin.

And here I thought I was the only "straight guy" who freaked out over a same-sex dream or two. It doesn't help when you have others say ridiculous bs like, "No straight person ever questions or is curious; you're either one or the other". We live in a world of binaries, and labels; things would be a lot simpler if people could be... sexual, and without fear or worry of consequences.

With that said, the bisexual community has been very helpful with exploring same-sex fantasies, and while I'm not a huge fan of the stereotypes and misconceptions that come with the term, I'd be more-or-less at a loss when trying to describe my sexuality to others. Of course you're going to think about something more if you obsess and jump to conclusions... what people don't understand is it's not about who you date, or f*ck, or dream of, but what you desire.

It's simple in theory, but simply doesn't always equal easy. I'm sure Chip will have a thing or two to say about this, especially if someone brings up the claim of suffering from OCD/HOCD. Labeling should come after evidence, but I've seen a few posts where the opposite is done, and with little evidence to prove their fears right.
