This was on the Guardian's website today, kinda depressing the amount of red on it (also from May, England & Wales should be dark green)

Proud of my country. LGBT people are still not fully accepted in society here, but at least we have the same rights as straight people

    OMG that's shocking.
I'm embarrassed to say I never realised it was that bad in so many other countries.

That's so sad. But the world has made a lot of progress in the past 10 years, so let's hope it'll get better.

I'm just really happy to live in Western Europe.

Canada is one big green gay-friendly country!

Even here however, as evidenced by that vicious attack on a gay man in Nova Scotia, homophobia will appear like some out-of-nowhere cancer.

Interesting map, and a bit depressing to see the state of affairs gay people are in, globally...

We can all choose to be negative and focus on the red, but rewind 13 years and nothing on that map would be any shade of significant green. There would also be more red.

I love all the progress that we have made over the past 10 or so years. I can't wait for Florida to stop being stupid. I live in the Panhandle, which is in the Bible Belt, so we have a long way to go. I hope I see the day where all of the USA is that amazing shade of green. Heck, I hope to see the day where the whole map is some shade of green

It certainly is sad for the countries that seem to be going backward with their laws; but for some, the laws have changed incredibly. If I rewind 10-12 years as a gay teen, I never even entertained the idea of gay marriage in the state I live in (Maryland). Not only did it make it to the ballot, it was one of the first states to pass marriage equality by popular vote.

Glad I live in Argentina. Though I'm really sad to see a lot of red.
