Something I did wonder but does most or a lot of gay people put a gay pride bumper sticker on there car? I just didn't know if only some people did that or most did. I seen some cars that have them like have some kind of rainbow stuff but does most or a lot of people do that? Or most don't put stickers on there car?

I won't put a bumper sticker on my car because I'm a purist.

I REALLY won't put a gay pride sticker because I'd probably get keyed...

I probably wouldn't, but I sure as hell didn't have a problem with wanting to cover my locker in high school with pride stickers before I left for good.

So most gay guys or girls don't put stickers on there car? If so I wonder why? I thought most gay people put that on there car. Or maybe not everyone on this forums read my topic yet?

Probably because it's a good way to get singled out and attacked.

  7. I can understand why people wouldn't put a rainbow sticker on their car. If my partner and I had a nice car and not the junky one we have, I probably wouldn't put one on either. If we didn't live in/go to school in a place that is largely accepting of gay people, I wouldn't be advertising to strangers that I'm queer.

BUT, since we don't have a nice car and this area is pretty okay, we have a pride flag sticker on our car. I know a few people who do. Also, I know someone who has a rainbow flag waving outside of their home.

In general, most people don't put bumper stickers on their cars — period. Sarcastic Luck is right, too. It largely depends, though, both on the individual and the area that they're living in.

I don't, and I have been out for oh 23-24 years. Never felt a need for a rainbow slapped on my truck.

Also, when 9-11 took place I sided with the unpatriotic/terrorist supporters who didn't bother to slap an American flag on their vehicle either.

Yah that is a possibility depending what kind of person sees the sticker walking past your car. No matter how out I was I wouldn't put a pride sticker on my car for this reason

Hmm so looks like it's not really good idea to put rainbow stickers on your car. Well I took mine off and I guess that was a good idea. I thought it was ok today to do this since people today accept gays more than my moms days.

Also another question is that do a lot of gay people put on rainbow bracelets or earrings, or something kind of rainbow stuff or do most guys don't put anything to advertise they are gay?

It's the same answer, to a certain degree.

I have the blue and yellow equality sign on my smart car. It doesn't represent "gay pride" so much as it does human rights.

Welp, I can kinda help you on that one. Most gay guys that I've met didn't have any rainbow stuff on at all. The pride festival was the first time I'd seen gay guys in shirts or pride apparel.

Myself, I did wear a rainbow bracelet and occasionally a necklace until I started college and had to take it all off. "You'll get pulled into the engine" they said, "the ring will cut your finger off" they said. BLAH BLAH BLAH if I get pulled into an engine give me a Darwin award and stick me in the ground.

Well what do most people do though? Since I don't know how much is to certain degree is for some people it could be a lot than others. I just wondered in general if a lot of gay people wear some gay pride stuff or do most just wear nothing that is rainbow and have nothing on there car and stuff?

Looks like people replied while I was typing.

When I lived in AZ I had a couple pride stickers on my car (a pink triangle and a rainbow flag). Currently I live in VA and for most of that time didn't have any kind of pride stickers on either of our vehicles. However, this last year I put a Human Rights Campaign sticker on my vehicle. It's not super common to see pride stickers in this area, but they aren't super rare either. They tend to be more subtle here than what I saw in AZ when I lived there.

A lesbian friend of mine at university had a pride/rainbow mouthguard for when she played football.

I'm not out yet but I've worn rainbow themed clothing a lot since I was a teenager so it probably wouldn't make much of a difference.

If I drove I might have a rainbow bumper sticker, as long as I had others like a Socialism sticker as well so that everything I'm proud of being was included, not just my sexuality. I think it's important to remember that being gay is only one part of my identity.

I think it depends on whether you live in a nice progressive tolerant gay-friendly area, or a backward conservative homophobic hellhole. Or if you drive around mostly in friendly liberal areas, or in conservative bigoted shitholes.

If you're wearing a rainbow sticker, always just be conscientious of the environment around you and what sort of people you see. A pickup truck with a Confederate flag flying from it and an angry redneck behind the wheel could spell trouble. Just be aware that you are inviting attention and sadly potentially even danger by putting a rainbow sticker on your car. A lot of people still hate the gays.

Of course I think gay people who live in nice progressive tolerant gay-friendly urban areas probably don't even have cars, since we've environmentally conscientious and prefer to take mass transit. :icon_wink

We ultra-liberal gays have rainbow stickers on our bikes and messenger bags as we hop the subway trains to get around. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride::thumbsup:

Also another thing is that I don't think most straight people know what rainbow color means since they don't care about the gay stuff. I remember talking to some guys and they didn't even know what the rainbow stands for. Doug even says that a lot of guys don't know what the rainbow means. But I assume there are some that know what it means. But I would think those are the ones that are gay friendly or supporting. Doug is straight and his my moms boyfriend.

All I know is that he said most people don't advertise themselves and have gay pride stuff like on there car or so. He has seen some people have rainbow though.

Right now so far I have 2 rainbow bracelets and one rainbow stud earring but so far nothing had happened to me. I think it's because most people don't know about the rainbow stuff unless they are gay or gay friendly or so.

As much as I would love to, it would really serve no purpose other than to get me targeted and singled out. And my truck is my pride and joy so I don't want it to get keyed or tired stabbed or whatever. I live in a conservative area so its a bad idea.
