Today I was in the restroom at a rest stop on the highway. While I was washing my hands there was a girl looking in the mirror talking with her friend. She said "Ew, I look like such a lesbian, I am so gross today. Why do I look so ugly today?"

I was really offended by it. Should I have said something to the girl?

Personally, I would have walked out and said "Because you're ugly on the inside." and just left.

Normally I avoid making comments, but since I see so much of it, I can't help it. Someones gotta tell them something otherwise nothing will change.

But hey, that's me. Some people would recommend saying nothing, which is also valid.

I'd say, "don't worry, you're not me type. I prefer cute, kind and intelligent." Haha

I would of said something along the lines of what Hrantou said, or something worse. If you don't stand up for what's right, then what's wrong will always stand on you.

Scowl at them is what I would have done as well. I would be too shy to say anything.

Just walk away knowing that you're better than she is.

I would've walked out saying "well I don't know about you but this lesbian is feeling very sexy!"

    I would've done nothing.
No need to make a scene out of something so trivial.

I'm with the others here who would have let it go right past. Why bother? You'll probably never see her again anyway. Bigger fish to fry. If I responded to every over heard comment I disagreed with I'd constantly be arguing with the world. Remember, we have no constitutional right to not be offended.

I think it's best to just ignore people like that.

I'm not a controntational person at all so I would ignore it. An extrovert, on the other hand, would likely to spark an argument, but that's a waste of time. I dislike it how extroverts always interrupt me when I'm talking to someone else or in the train of the though, so while what she said was nasty, I wouldn't meddle in their conversation because I think it's rude to interrupt people.

If they're not talking directly to me, why butt in? At worst, I might shoot them a dirty look at the shock of hearing it, but nothing more than that.

It's not like you stumbled upon her committing a hate crime or anything - It was just a comment she made to her friend in passing, and accordingly, there's no need to be offended by it.

I'm sorry...what? Since when does extraversion equate to argumentative? Extraversion merely means that social interraction brings an extravert energy

Yes, sorry for the misunderstanding. To clarify I meant that I, being very introverted, would not want to get into a quarrel over that.

I think extroverted people would feel more inclined to challenge someone for making such a thoughtless remark, and it's because they gain energy from such interactions as you noted.

My response would have been..."Bitch please...you wish you looked as good as Portia DeRossi"

I actually said something like this to my cousin when he made comment about a gay guy trying to be his friend and said "Man I ain't like that"
I said. "I really wish straight people would quit thinking just because a gay or lesbian person wants to be their friend that we want to sleep with them. We have standards beyond 'has a vag or penis' Get this: You are not Wentworth miller or Portia DeRossi. You're safe"

I think maybe you should have done something, although I don't know what. If people don't start with the little acts to try and bring attention to the presence of LGBT groups, then bigger things will never happen to promote equality, and people will continue being the ignorant, narrow minded sheep they are. But that said, confronting people on stuff like that is pretty scary

My response would have been one of the following:

    "Don't flatter yourself, darling."
"I personally don't know many lesbians who have their heads so far up their own arse, they've become a hat?"
"What, you think we're *that* desperate?!"
"Because these mirrors clearly reflect our insides, too."

Then again, I'm a bit of a bitch.
