Ok, i've always wondered, but why is it acceptable for a man to be shirtless, with the chest showing in public, yet women can't show their own breasts? it's always struck me as odd. like, who even made that a rule?
    I was just curious.

  2. Haha, I never understood this as a child. Actually I still don't understand this. I used to ask my mother ALL the time why boys didn't have to wear shirts but girls did. Makes no sense.

Well, I think men with boobs should hide them too.

    Just saying.

Because the rule is "Anything below the neck that can excrete something must be covered." Duh.

Hm...good question. Maybe it has something to do with girls...um...being able to DO something with their breasts. It's just kind of...well, it's more of a private thing.
    However...
There are topless beaches in Europe, and pretty much all African tribal women don't wear shirts/bras/any other covering just as the men do...watch the Discovery channel if you don't believe me, or this really campy movie called "Romancing the Stone".
    I don't know...I think it's just certain cultures.

I think in some European countries girls can go topless if it's a certain temperature. But it's also very likely that the person that told me that was just lying. So I dunno.

  15. Well, thinking about it, there is the support issue. Like you get back problems or whatever if you don't wear a bra. But still.

    XD"
    hahaha:lol::roflmao:

....wow, let me breath off that one. classic....
it's like...dull moment for me, and i read this and burst out in laughter and everyone in my youth group meeting turns around and starts staring at me

ok, by right NO ONE is suppose to be going topless, because of the knowledge our 10th parents (Adam and Eve) gave us...it's considered being "half naked". However, the male specie seem to do it as a meathod of showstopping. i know...tell me about it:dry:

    shallow much!

However, girls can go topless, just not reccomended. Society dictates full coverage of the feamle private anatomy and in return provide them with higher rispect and men with more imagination(totally, if i was straight!:lol:slight_smile:

so anyways, to top it off, which female wants to go topless...unless they got small breasts they can "flex"....i mean, would'nt it hurt? comm'on girls?

I think it's because a woman's breasts are seen as sex organs whereas a man's chest is not. And so the woman's upper body is sexualised and must be "covered" lest those poor helpless lustful men are unable to keep a lid on it when they see them. Straight women's sexuality is less strong or the man's chest is less sexual or more just a part of their normal body is some way, so it's fine for them to show their bodies.

??? Or smething along those lines. Personally I believe it's just another double standard, expecting women to cover themselves because their bodies are more exciting/shameful/sexual than men's. *sigh* This is evidenced by the fact that in many other societies, eg Aboriginals, African tribes, etc, where the gender roles are different, the women show their breasts as a matter of course and nobody cares.

We had a thread a while ago about the Bara Brost movement to allow women to go topfree in public. Does anyone remember that?
