Question for all the girls out there. DO you have your ears pierced?

I'm considering getting mine pierced and I just wondered if many other people do.

I'm not a girl, but I have both ears pierced, and stretched to 6,5mm.

    Yes - and no.

I had my ears pierced as my Christmas present when I was 15 and everybody got me earrings for Christmas. Three days later I woke with my ears swollen up right around the earrings on both ears and the earrings had to be taken out at Casualty! They said I'd had a big allergic reaction to the gold. My Mum spent the next few days ringing round the people who had given me earrings asking if by any chance they still had the receipts so I could exchange the earrings for something else.

So I still have the (now healed) holes in my ears but I can't wear earrings! Needless to say I haven't risked getting anything else pierced!

Nah. Earrings are pretty, but they also cost time, effort, and money. Nobody has really even noticed that my ears aren't pierced, even though a few years ago when all the girls were getting them done I was asked about it.

I'm not a girl but whatever. I have seven piercings in my ears, looking to get more. My lobes are stretched to 12mm.

Nope, I hate the damned things. My ex tried to convince me to get them done as she OBSESSED over them, but that just put me off more..

I always liked the idea of piercings I'm just not sure if I should get them done or not. They might look cute or they might look totally shitty!

    Nope.

I'm allergic to some of the metals commonly used in jewelry and I'm not risking infections.

The only thing I seem to be able to use somewhat safely is silver and even then, if there's something mixed in it, here comes a rash.
Any other metal, I have to coat with transparent nail varnish or I'll get this rash from hell. I even have to coat my belt buckles if I don't have a shirt tucked in.

Metal watches? Forget it unless I coat the whole thing in nail varnish. Metal clasps in those cord necklaces? Same thing.

    It's pretty crazy.

I used to have a piercing. I had a little punk moment when I was about 13/14 and got my ear pierced and dyed my hair blonde. I kind of cringe now when I think about it

I'd imagine most people do it at least once, guys and girls, it's not really such a big deal. If you don't like them, you can easily just take them out again.

Not a girl but I have one ear pierced. My cartilage piercing closed up or it would be two.

I suppose it's one of those cases where you don't miss what you don't have...

One time I was given this ring that was supposedly pure silver. After a few hours wearing it; I had blisters, red skin and a horrid itch between my fingers... :icon_eek:

Turns out it had some small % of some other metal in it...

More guys replying than girls, eh?

I have a helix piercing on one ear. I also used to have my ears stretched to 5mm a while ago before I took them out.

I'm not a girl, but I'm FAAB and pre-everything. I've had my ears pierced 3 times in each ear, and used to wear earrings in all 6 piercings. Currently though, I'm stretching my bottom piercings, and I've got a 10mm gauge in each ear.

I know plenty of girls with earrings and plenty without. If you decide they're something you want to go for, pick a good pair out and keep them very clean to minimize any risk for infection.
