    Hi All
Have used & re-seasoned my cast iron Dutch oven for years. No issues. I re-seasoned it a couple of weeks ago w/maybe too much oil (same one Ive always used)? Its sticky. Can't get it off. In desperation I am putting it thru hot dishwasher w/no soap.
    Suggestions?

My cast iron gets sticky from time to time. I usually just warm it up and wipe it down with a paper towel.

I've seen on a cooking forum I'm part of that some people will run it through a self-clean cycle on the oven and then re-season it afterwards - but frankly I think that's overkill.

When mine get sticky it is usually just on the outside of the pan, so I just do as I said and warm it a little to distribute the oil. I don't think the dishwasher will help.

Or you could scrub the sticky part with kosher salt and a damp sponge. That should help scrap the coating off that's causing the stickiness.

    Hope this helps.
