I grunt when I play video games.

Especially hardcore video games like The Sims.

I always found it really weird how people grunt in tennis. I mean, I never needed to grunt when I played tennis with my brothers last year, and neither did they.

I grunt at strategic times when I play Table Tennis... mainly as a way to get them to laugh and mess up.

I LOVE THE SIMS 2 TOO!

Don't they grunt a bit in wrestling, sumo, and karate? Maybe it's because they're contact sports.

The next time you watch a game of tennis, close your eyes ^^

ugh..................................ugh.......... ..................................ugh............. ...........................UGH....... *crowd cheers*

Add in the paddling noises, and it sounds REALLY suggestive!

And I don't know why they do that either! I used to play tennis with my brother, and at school with my friends a ton...the only time anyone would ever make any kind of grunt is if they happened to fall head over heels and collide with the ground :P

Hell, I grunt playing WII tennis. But that's because I'm old and out of shape.

I've been told that they grunt or make noise when playing tennis because it forces air out. One of the (surprisingly) common problems with something that requires exercise and concentration is that your breathing can become very ragged, or even stop altogether. Making some noise causes tennis players to synch their breathing with the play of the game - they breathe out with every stroke. Not sure if this is the real reason or not, but it sort of makes sense.

I can't remember which woman tennis player used to yell. Not grunt, but YELL. Every time she hit the ball, it sounded like she was yelling "No!" Like she was pissed at every single one of her hits.

^Sharapova? She goes "HURAGHHHH!!!!"

I usually don't grunt when I play, but one time I tried it for kicks and it actually does help with breathing. It gives more power, too.
