Can i sue a teacher if she put the wrong grade on my report card. I got a 99.22% and i have the proof from our online database that says it. She put a A now & that eliminates me from my chances to get into a charter school

Could you not just talk to her about it, and ask her to amend the report card?

Talk to her, and she refuses to do something, there must be a regulatory board for education that you can speak to.

Wait, what am I not getting here? Is your concern A vs. A+? What's the grading scale? And what sort of charter school would not admit someone because they got one A instead of A+?

I don't think an errant grade is grounds for a lawsuit, sorry to say. You can definitely talk to her about it though; teachers are usually not out to get their students, and NEVER in a way so trivial as changing an A+ to an A. If I were going to screw somebody out of a grade, I'd drop it the full letter.

What's this with American culture where people want to sue everyone and their dog for the most trivial stuff?

Talking to the teacher seems like a much more sensible option.

I'd start by talking to the teacher. Maybe it was just mistake. Maybe your school only allows up to an A (mine used to).

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! If you're 'mature' enough to sue someone, you'd think you'd be able to have an adult discussion!

What's scary is that Americans not only want to, but have the ability to sue almost anyone for almost anything.

Speak to her, speak to the school principal, speak to the relevant bureaucrats if you're so insistent. Suing her would be the most pathetic thing possible in this situation, and would cause a massive hassle for everyone involved, and would waste the time of the courts.

...Anytime I've had a grade error, I just messaged the instructor and gotten it fixed.

I have to be honest here - I think you're being super petty.

I am getting ready to apply for my nursing program. They just look at your letter grade - no plus or minus can be listed. If you got an A+++++++, you can only put an A.

I think that instead of wanting to sue, you need to look at why she did that - maybe she can only give the grade?. If so, or she has that power, you really need to praise yourself for getting such a high grade.

Well she has been out for 3 weeks straight and last time she left you didn't put anything in i have a 99.22 as i said but the problem is that we had substitute after substitute and she is a lazy teacher i am not kidding, even if i was a democrat i would make her quit her job.

Well, go through the proper channels...but seriously - just because you got a 99.22 doesn't mean you'll get a plus. You might just get an A.

My school is quite "retarded" in a sense that if you get above a 96 you get an A+ which doesn't make knowledge to me because i though A was between 93-97 in grade school. He it is 94-95. I have talked to the principle about it and this is what he told me "come to my office later, and we need to see your teacher." WELL MY TEACHER IS ON TENURE for some reason i don't know did she do something to a child?

of course not just a pluses. when i was in school, i got 1 f 1 time and i was sent back to special ed due to my unknown diagnosis but otherwise i got a's in all subjects because i'm very good at special ed. in fact i was a special ed teacher for students with disabilities, unknown diagnosis, autism, rare diagnosis, and schizophrenic students.

Tenure doesn't mean your teacher is being punished or otherwise unavailable. A teacher being on tenure means that person's job is guaranteed. They can't be fired under normal circumstances, so they have more freedom to teach the way they want to. (I'm sure there are more specific definitions. Any teachers out there let me know where this definition can be improved upon!)

It sounds like you already went through the proper channels. Just take a few breaths and wait until you can sit down with your principle and teacher. There's really no need to sue anyone, especially when you're 0.78% away from a perfect grade...
