I was wondering, before you all came out (or if you're not out), did you put "straight" as your orientation for Myspace and/or Facebook? Thanks.

Nope. I just didn't/don't list an orientation. I'm not going to lie, but I don't feel like advertising.

    YAY!!! *hugs*

I was just wondering, 'cause I've got a friend with 2 myspaces, on one, she doesn't have an orientation listed, on the other one, she has "straight" listed, and the one without an orientation is older than the one with an orientation.

I've actually had my "intrested in" on Facebook set to men for a while now. One of my straight friends added me recently and I know he suspects that I'm gay but he hasn't said anything about it yet >..<

  10. I never had it as anything when I signed up for Facebook but then I just put Women, Men.

I had nothing marked before I came out, then when I was in a relationship I just had "is in a relationship with xxxxx". After we broke up, I marked men, but I got tired of the 8000000000 "meet gay singles" adds so I unmarked it.

I had my "interested in" blank and then changed it to women last fall. I haven't had too many questions/comments about it. I think a lot of people just skip over that part (especially straight people)

I put it as straight, and it still says straight...

idk, i doubt anyone reads it or looks at my profile anyway. now that you mention it, im just gonna get rid of it altogether

I didn't even list my orientation. Although I knew I wasn't straight, I refused to lie to everyone else. I guess it's the easiest way to avoid the topic all together. :icon_wink

I just haven't put anything... I thought about putting women, but then I would end up being out to all my friends on facebook, who are basically none of my close friends before the people who matter to me. That would just be silly.. one of these days though..

    and congrats Helen

I didn't answer the question on myspace when I first built my profile, mainly because I used it for work contacts, and it didn't seem to be necessary. But, after awhile, I felt like I was hiding something, so I swapped it to "gay". Nobody batted an eye. Even the born-again Christians didn't say anything (or delete me).

I originally didn't list my myspace orientation but a few months ago I changed it to lesbian. I think most of my friends on myspace knew anyway though.
