He lost a lot of weight (2 pounds) so I brought him to the vet, and we ran some tests and took an ultrasound, and it looks like some of his lymph nodes are imflamed. The radiologist agrees with the vet that it might be cancer, but I won't really know until I take him to a specialist and have some tissue samples tested...if it is cancer, they want to make sure it hasn't spread to his lungs...

I don't know, I'm just really sad. My cats mean so much to me. :tears:

Look on the bright side pup: at least he didn't get devoured by a hungry coyote. Now that would be tragic for you.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I know how difficult it is when pets become ill. Hopefully things turn out okay. (*hug*)

Having a pet become critically ill is a very heartbreaking and emotional event. I had to put one of my cats to sleep earlier this year because his internal organs started to shut down. Not knowing exactly what your cat has, I don't really know the treatment options available to you and if you are able to afford them (animal procedures can cost a good amount of money). Even if you can't afford a procedure, it doesn't mean that you can't help your pet. You can. For the remainder of their time with you, you can make them extremely comfortable, spend a good amount of time with them giving them attention and making sure they feel loved. In the case of my cat, when he became ill he started having issues with mobility and controlling some bodily functions. He was very keen on this one couch of ours and liked to lay there. So for about a 2-3 weeks we set it up as his special area. We covered it with disposable cover sheets that could be changed if he had accident, moved his bed there, set up food and water and moved a litter box next to it (with the hope that he could make it there sometimes). It became his area and he was happy there and loved it when we would come sit by him and give him rubdowns. Then he also really enjoyed going outside frequently when he was healthier, so once a day we would carry him outside (when it was nice) so he could lay in the sun and he seemed to really like that as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that while the illness is truly a tragic thing, you can make sure that your cat is happy and feels loved in whatever time they have left. And should it become necessary to put them to sleep, know it's for the best and that by doing so, they are no longer living in pain.

I know this can be a difficult experience, but stay strong (*hug*)

    Thanks for the replies guys.

It's just really hard to handle this right now. It's hard enough paying for the vet visits to find out what's wrong, so I'm really stressed out. If there's anything I can do to help my cat, I'm going to. Even if things take a turn for the worst and all I can do is help keep him comfortable. I've never had a cat get sick like this before, and he's always been really healthy up until recently.
