With the holidays coming up and all I thought it might be interesting to see what everybody is buying or has bought for their family, significant other, friends, etc.

I myself have bought a steampunk tarot card deck for my boyfriend since he's really into steampunk and he finds divination interesting, and collects different tarot card decks among other things he uses as inspiration for his drawings and art projects

That's sweet! Personally not much as to unconventional gifting this season. Only have three people to buy for, and the only thing other than gift cards I was told was dress gloves. Kiiiinda lame.

Got my dad a "WMU Dad" shirt, my mom a box of Keurig coffee things and Dr. Phil's newest book, my brother got an "Ugly Sweater Gingerbread Man" kit, and I'm not even sure what to get for my boyfriend. I was thinking of getting him a gold chain, or maybe a matching pride ring.

Haha, nothing yet unfortunately. I'm short on cash so I'm trying to do my best with what little I have. I might be getting my sister a tardis necklace, since she's a new whovian and can't believe she's taken so long to get into Doctor Who.

I was thinking I'd buy a pocket-flask for my best friend, the most obnoxious looking one as well xD. I think he'd appreciate it, and chuckle at the irony

For my brothers I have no clue whatchimaget, I'll figure sumthin out. For my parents.. probably a book or two. That's pretty much the only thing they seem to enjoy doing is reading. If you got any tips on what to get for them I'd appreciate it, cus books are kinda boring presents... so cliché.

Nothing. Christmas gifts aren't part of Dutch tradition (and I'm glad they're not cause it's all commercial crap)

I got a bunch of stuff. I still need to get some though.
Two baby cousins-hot wheels, animal hats, my little pony doll, dress up shoes, book, coloring book
Other cousins & aunt-book, video games, wall decoration/picture
Boyfriend-record and WWII grenade cuz he likes military and history
    Step mom- purse
Boyfriend's parents-lighthouse snowglobe and car cleaning kit thing
Dad-calendar. I really need to think of something else for him...

I didn't have much money last Christmas, so I want to make sure that I make up for it this year. Plus I love doing things for people, and I figure it's prolly a better use of my extra money than buying stuff for myself anyway. I just really need to figure out something for my dad because if anyone deserves a good present this year, it's him.
I got some things for my little sister too, but seeing as she's a member of this site, I don't want to say what, in case she looks at this thread XD lol

For my Father: I’m having some silver cufflinks hand made for him. They’re an interesting Scandinavian design.

For my Mother: I’m not quite sure yet.

For my sister: I’m buying her a Vlisco scarf. They’re some of the nicest scarves I’ve seen. Frankly, they rival Hermés and the price is better.

For her Boyfriend: An African print shirt.

A microwave, cooking trays, some plant pots and potting soil...

I feel old. I think I've hit that age where we get excited about socks and stuff, or the commercialism aspect has worn off and we just get each other stuff we need. Hell, I'll get a check from dad as usual, and it's gonna pay the bills for a month! Woohoo!

You have your priorities straight. I would get something for my dog, but she's blind so she can't play with toys. :frowning2:

I've gotten a few things. I ordered a photo blanket for my bestie, because Walgreens had a huge deal going on. Then I got a mug and will get a book and make it a cute little package. I haven't really gotten much else, but I have a list on Amazon and will order soon enough. It's one of my favorite times of years. I love being able to do stuff for my loved ones. It's not necessarily about money, because I refuse to just stupidly spend. My friends know that I get them meaningful things - and they know not to say anything different, haha.

I bought my Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister all of them a DVD (specifying to their shows, ie Bones, Pretty Little Liars, Modern Family etc) and each of them a journal specifying to a particular favourite pop culture thingy of theirs (A Death Note, Tom Riddle's Diary, A TARDIS Diary (like River Song's) and a empty Grail Diary), with the intention that they actually use them.

Probably just gonna get a Velvet Underground LP for my brother (RIP Lou, by the way), and I have no clue what to get for my mom.

I have secret santa too though, for which I'm gonna buy a friend a ton of Jaffa Cakes (long story).

I’ve bought this huge book containing Sherlock Holmes stories for my mom, because she loves reading detectives, and a scarf, gloves and hat set for my brother. That’s it so far. I still need to find something for my dad, aunt and best friend.
