Do u think it is right for Obama to become president but not swear his oath by putting his hand on the bible and not saying the pledge of allegiance?

It would be pretty amazing if he didn't swear on a Bible but as a non-Christian I think that would be cool.

But I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict that if he's elected, he will be sworn in in the traditional manner.

Every president who is elected should be inaugurated in the same manner, it's a part of this country's tradition.

    That would be AWESOME:eek:

I swear if America lets him do that, I will never again make fun of
    1) America's negative Private Savings
    2) The hypocrisy on Capitalism
    3) The foundationless American dream which resulted in the dot-com bubble and now the housing bubble

I'm a very non religious person and believe he should have the right to say no (tradition or not), but how else would he be sworn in? In the military you have the choice when being sworn in by raising your right hand and saying either "I swear" or "I affirm"...maybe they can do something similar for him.

Yeah, they do that in court, too. You can "affirm" instead of swear.

    >>>People lie.

About being Muslim? How's he sneaking in pulling out the prayer rug and facing Mecca three times a day without anybody noticing?

Well, there is a separation of church and state.

I could care less. If people want to argue over something that trivial, that's really sad.

It's 5 times a day, though, isn't it? Or were you saying 2 of those would have been at night? *grin*

The Koran isn't 'Holy' in the United States, according to the Government.

This whole thing about him being muslim is just....sad.

The other day, CNN interviewed some random woman and the street and she SWORE that Obama had once said he was muslim. Seriously.....I suppose she also believes in the "Terrorist Fist Bump".....

And I think the proper way to say it is "He's not A Muslim." "Muslim" is a noun. "Islamic" is the adjective.

Actually, Muslim is also an adjective. You would never say that someone is "Islamic."

As far as I'm concerned, saying an oath on a bible doesn't mean shit. Doesn't make you incapable of lying and cheating. Just as meaningless as doing so before taking the witness stand. So I care not.
