Would you have gone to an all-male or all-female college or university? Some very good schools in the U.S. are still single sex colleges.

For me, even if fully stocked with real attractive people, the answer is a big no. It's like living in half of the real world.

I've often wondered why students select them. You can add insight on this, too.

As much as I'd like to live in guy-heaven, I think I'd be too distracted

Well, I have zero interest in college, so it being single-sex or not doesn't really make a difference.

But if I was planning to go to college, nah, I'd prefer a gender-diverse college.

That's exactly why I voted no. You miss out on so many points of view in a single sex college.

One of the reasons some people may choose to go to one is the scholarships they offer.

I love different perspectives. My mom went to an all girls college, but it was across the street from a big public university. I can understand going to a single sex college if it has a really good program that you are interested in, but if I did go to one, I would want to be near a college that was gender diverse or a single sex college opposite of the one I went to. That could be fun.

I don't think there are any single-sex universities in Australia. Not to mention the idea's rather ridiculous; I refused to go to any private schools because most are single-sex.

I think being cooped up with a bunch of men who don't want to be around women isn't exactly the nicest thing...

Too much eye-candy. I'd be distracted the whole time. But like others have said I'd like some females mixed in as well to diversify things.

Oh god, no! I went to a boy's high school and I don't think I could subject myself to single-sex education for another four years. I tend to befriend girls more easily. I've finally come to realize its just the way of my personality.

I think there are only 3 All-guys schools in the U.S. now. I'm near Hampden Sydney which is like prep central. I know tons of guys who went there. Super conservative. The other two are in Atlanta and Indiana I think, and I know nothing about them.

That being said...hell no. I enjoyed the intermingling of sexes and peoples in college. It was almost just as valuable as the classes I paid for, and I got to experience them for free.

...why do these exist - like what's the point of them?

I don't know why the average sexual person would want to go there considering what can go on at normal unis.

an all boys high school could be heavenly. If you're gonna be trapped like in a prison all day, may as well make the most of it. College i see it as irrelevant though. The dorm floor is single sex and that's good enough. Classes are brief and too competitive for socializing, and by the 2nd year most have cars and you can get into...single sex bars and such easily. No supervision like parents either. As others mentioned, the hookup scene thrives either way.

I don't think I could stand going to a single-sex University because 1) I'd probably be two distracted, 2) As others said, perspective is important is good, and 3) I am at University to get an education, not for a relationship. (I realize the logic of (3) is flawed but hopefully y'all get my point.) (3) can go either way because if the University is single-sex but is a prestiegious school, then yeah, I'll go there.

Here several of the best schools are Segregated by gender,
And I'd have been lucky to attend any one of them.

    But having said that,
I like both sexes and I prefer the diversity.

And by College you mean University?
    No ways,
    Never,

If I were studying to be a priest it might be of value. Otherwise, I don't think so.

I don't think there are any single sex universities in the Netherlands and even if there were, I wouldn't consider them. Because...

    ...exactly this.

This is actually a quite interesting dilemma. Even though I would love just being around females I think that it would be weird as it would cause an unbalanced social environment. Also I find it easier talking to guys so Im guessing that I would have a problem finding friends.
In conclusion; my hypothalamus and ovaries are screaming "oh god yes" but In reality I don't think it would be healthy for a person to on be around one gender, so no.

I don't think the UK has single sex uni's so it isn't really an issue for me.

But if they did, it'd still be no. I went to an all boys secondary school for 3 years and I really did not enjoy it much. >.>

I guess that can be another reason I can add: I don't live near any anyways.
