    "It's a Wonderful Life".

    Also, "Elf".

I also like "Bad Santa" but it's not really a cheery movie. Best to watch that one when it's not Christmas time.

For me, it's a toss up between Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story.

It simply isn't Christmas until I've watched Eloise at Christmastime at least a dozen times. Leading up to the big day, I watch it every night for a week. I kid you not.

I hate to say this, because it sounds repetitive, but another vote for A Christmas Story. Although what I like is the imaginary life of a boy, and a look back at another era, not the Christmassy quality.

Fun fact: it was directed by Bob Clark who also directed Porky's. Which doesn't appear to have the same feeling of all-family innocent movie. Although it also took place in the past.

I also like The Ref (basic plot idea: cat burglar holds a dysfunctional family hostage at Christmas).

    I also like Bad(der) Santa.

Don't ask me why I like the "dysfunctional" theme. Maybe it's because of coming out of a dysfunctional family. Maybe it's because I'm alone this time of year, and these remind me that things could be worse than being alone.

The Ref is hilarious! It's one of my favorite Christmas movies.

I think my favorite is Love Actually, though.

    Love Actually
    The Family Stone

    Those two are the tearjerkers.

    The usual suspects include:

    The Night They Saved Christmas
    White Christmas
    Eloise
    A Charlie Brown Christmas
all of the Rankin Bass movies
    Home Alone 1&2

I personally like the Home Alone series and a gay Christmas-themed movie called "Make the Yuletide Gay."

I'm going to have to go with Love Actually, even though I've only seen it once.
Also The Snowman, because it brings back memories of being a kid.

And there was another one I used to love where a girl loses her teddy bear on christmas eve and then it has all these adventures in the snow and then manages to get home again for christmas. Not actually a very good film but it makes me feel all warm and christmasy when i think about it

I really liked a little-known indie film called "Scrooge and Marley." It tells the familiar "A Christmas Carol" story, but in a gay setting: Scrooge is a stingy nightclub owner. Tiny Tim's parents are a gay couple who adopted several kids. A good combination of humor and drama.

Old, black and white versions of A Christmas Carol are kinda fun.
