Yet the stereotype is spread that nearly all gay men do this, while implying that very few straight couples do. So with all the harassment, insults, and claims that homosexuality is disgusting and unclean because gay sex is by definition anal sex and invariably involves coprophagia, it would seem that gay men are no more likely to engage in anal sex than straight couples. Where did you find the statistic about only 30% of gay cismale couples engaging in anal sex? From what I knew the statistic is close to 70%. I'm trying to find the study where I read it from, but I haven't been able to yet. If anyone can come up with some source it would be helpful But either way, the whole argument that gay sex = anal sex is just an excuse that people use to deny us rights. Even if we were celibate, but still trying to marry each other, then they would come up with some other excuse.
Unfortunately, I suspect the argument will not be won with statistics. Those who oppose our rights do so because of hatred and/or fear, and they won't listen.
Technically, these statistics have absolutely nothing to do with rights. What people choose to do with their own personal sex lives is human desire, not a marriage right. If two gay people want to marry, then they should be able to get married. They should not be denied marriage just because they have anal sex. Straight people are not denied marriage just because they have vaginal sex.
Anal sex is fun, and people just need to be less uptight and prudish. The part about it involving coprophagia is weird, though. I know a lot of gay men who enjoy anal sex, but coprophagia means eating feces, and nobody I know likes eating turds, gay or straight. That seems like a weird assumption for people to make! I didn't know it was part of the whole anal sex = bad thingy.
Indeed, though I've only been able to enjoy anal by myself. Silly people who want to deny themselves that pleasure, because of silly misconceptions that it hurts or involves feces or whatever. Other people's sex lives? Wouldn't be any of your business. There's nothing wrong with not liking it, either. Don't be hypocritical. I'm a little surprised how many gay guys have anal, though. IDK. It seems unintuitive to me. Then again, most gay porn involves anal sex. Probably a "Chicken or the egg" situation.
My partner and I would be some of the 'don't do anal' group. Not because we find it painful or dirty or anything of the sort. It's just not all that much fun. I've done anal (top and bottom) with various guys, including a 3yr relationship with a guy who wanted to do it almost nightly. And my overall reaction to it is pretty much summed up as 'meh'. This after years of thinking I should really like it because after all that's what gay men do, right? I eventually got over that and have concluded that anal is simply not something I find very pleasurable or exciting. I'll take a good back rub over anal sex any day. It feels a whole lot better. Todd
