I can't figure it out. If a life sentence is the rest of their life, how would a double life sentence work? I realize that it is possible to get out. Even if you believe in reincarnation, you couldn't know who they were to imprison them for a second life. Help me, please. End the confusion.
A life sentence does not always mean for life. I'm not sure what it's like in USA, but in UK a life sentence is a minimum of 10 years. I think USA have a similar way of working it too. You can get people sentenced for life, however it often means you have to serve a minimum of 10 years (or however long your judge sentenced you to) and then after that you can apply for parole. A double life sentence will be a minimum of 20 years. It's a tricky name to call a sentence, but it does mean that you can be put in jail from a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of until you die.
Oh God, I thought you said, "I'll get it tomorrow," and I was like, "WHAT?! What did you do?!" Haha. I think in USA it's 25 years, but I wouldn't know because I'm a raving idiot. : D
Yeah, like the saying "twenty-five to life". It's just a way to keep the crazies in prison for extra long. Seriously though, a life sentence is from 25 years to however long. Life without parole means you can't go to the parole board to get released. Back to back sentences would make it like, 50 years to however long to get out.
It will all depend on your country. I think the UK's average life sentence lasts for 15 years, although that may have changed now.
There's certain states in the USA that will sentence a person to three 99 year terms to be served consecutively. This makes sure that the bad guy will never get out of prison.. In Canada people can apply for parole on a life sentence after 10 years. Relatives of murdered people hate this and try to keep the felons in prison.
Um...sure. ___________ In the United States, life sentences can range from 15-35 years without chance at parole. The act of parole is given only for excellent behavior, usually granted in the second term of life sentencing, only. Again, this varies greatly state to state. Usually felony charges and aggravated charges incur a longer sentence, felony usually leading to a life. However, please note that surviving in a US prison is EXTREMELY difficult. Prisoners experience high stress lives, and depending on the prisons, attempted murders, robbery, battery, rape, and high exchange of deadly diseases do occur DESPITE the efforts of guards, doctors, and prison staff. The US incarceration system is large and does contain many dangerous people, many varieties of gangs, and is a hostile environment.
Well eventually, if humans flourish long enough, maybe our life span will be even longer like over 100 years on average. Then an actual "life" sentence could be useful.
with good behavior a life sentence is at least 14 years, so I guess a double life is 28 at least? No idea though
