We're in denial of our homosexuality, so we lie about our attraction to opposite gender.

And it works too, because in high school my former girlfriend hooked up with another girl after we broke up, and she kissed a girl between classes. The other girl told people she was bi, because people were calling her a dyke. She became instantly popular with the guys, so popular in fact 3 of them came over to her house unannounced when her parents weren't home. They brought booze and I think either pot or pills, can't recall. When she told them she didn't want to party with them, one of them got angry, and basically told her she was partying with them anyway. It's crap like this that kept me in the closet until I moved away from that area.

When I got to college, it was the same thing (myth about bi girls being sluts) but there WERE actually slutty girls who would claim to be bi just to please the guys. One of them tried to hook up with me, and I almost did, until she mentioned she had a boyfriend and oh, could he watch us? It really gets him horny. (as if college guys needed an excuse to get horny)

In my area, there's was a sort of trend going round where everyone claimed to be bisexual because it is new, fresh, interesting and sexy (according to people.)
Now when people are really serious about it, no one believes them.
I admit though, this 'trend' has helped countless people come out and for that I am grateful.

Same thing was happening around the time I came out. Mom didn't believe I was really bi at first because of this.

As for a couple more myths, that we are down with joining bicurious girls and their boyfriends for threesomes. Yeah, no. I do like both guys and girls, but not at the same time.

And that we have both a boyfriend and a girlfriend at the same time. Maybe some bisexuals do, but not all of us.

That we're gay until we date someone of the opposite sex, and then we're suddenly straight again.

Like, I realize that I many bisexuals swing when it comes to preference, but I don't think any of us suddenly turn completely straight or completely gay. The attraction towards either gender is always there.

Oh, I'm agreeing with you on this myth, but it sure doesn't work for me. If I see two women together and getting it on, it's not a turn on. Photos of several unclothed women or their being in a film nude, but not having sex, works much better. That's just me.

Myth: you're in denial, and it's mostly a label people use to take the edge off of being homosexual or lesbian.

I'm pansexual, which is slightly different, but I've heard this before: "Pansexual isn't real. You're just a bisexual with special snowflake syndrome."

    Things I've seen:

Bisexuals aren't attracted to trans* people (even those who are binary).

    Bisexuality reinforces the gender binary.

Bisexuals cannot be attracted to non-binary people. If they are, then they're "really" pansexual.

I got one heard it from a straight dude may I add an ignorant straight dude ( not judging all you straight dude i know you all don't think like this clown )
He told me that all bisexual women are more attracted to the opposite sex and only want women to sleep with

There is not such thing as a bisexual man I think this one takes the cake of most stupid myth about bisexuals of all

    Thank you for mentioning this....

I am sick of being told my orientation is transphobic... I love people of many genders.

We're actually a gay person in full denial.

We're just going through a phase.

We're much luckier than lesbians and gays because we're practically straight.

We are just horny teenagers/young adults who don't know what we really want.

That we're somehow less trustworthy or capable of staying in monogamous relationships.

Everyone who came out as bisexual ended up ___ (gay, straight, whatever).

Bisexuals are constantly having sex with whomever they want.

Hmm...trying to think of ones I've heard in real life:

Well, I dated this girl when I was in ninth grade, and after we broke up, my friends and I found out she was bisexual. They jokingly said things like, "Damn, you coulda had a threesome with her!"

And then I've heard things like "It's just a fad.", "It's just to be popular.", "Women just pretend to be bisexual but only date guys." I think that last one was based on a couple of girls in high school who, up until their coming outs, had only dated guys.

I agree completely. Even when I started having a relationship with a guy, I never lost my attraction to women in general.
