I hate the word "lesbian" in general because I don't understand why gay people want to make a difference between a male gay and female gay. The straight people don't make this difference, they are called "straight men" and "straight women". And about me, I don't like this word because of my gender identity
Sometimes I like to refer to myself as gay. It says im a female so that should give everything away..But lesbianism sounds like a practice and we don't practice it, or I don't practice. I am a girl who likes girls and it's not a choice, practice, disease, or religion. .
It sounds like some weird philosophy or something. And it rhymes with feminism. Maybe that's why there are so many feminist... lesbianists? Isn't that how Pauly D calls it when Snooki makes out with girls? Lol. Idk, I don't spend much time thinking about that kind of thing, but yeah, it's a weird word, I agree.
I don't get the term at all. I'm a lesbian/gay woman or whatever. I just ignore it. Once a doctor I went to asked "how long have you been practicing lesbianism?" Needless to say I found a new doc.
"Ever since I started practicing Wiccanism, doc." I would have choked on my soda if a doctor asked me something like that... :O
Yes...reference the difference in meaning between Muslim and Islamist (or Islam and Islamism), and you start to get the difference between lesbian and lesbianism. Probably another one of them words started by those derned Christianists.
Yes, I hate the word too. It makes it sound like a medical condition or political philosophy. EDIT: On a side note, I'm sad I couldn't change my custom tag to "Banned." Well played, EC, well played.
I like the word lesbian but when i was a teenager I hated the word lesbian because my mom would use it in a negative way and i would wonder why women are comfortable calling themselves lesbian . I didn't know the full meaning of the word lesbianism but now that I learned that it is referred to as a practice now i don't like the word anymore . I don't practice lesbianism I'm just a lesbian and that's really offensive when people say that .
Am I the only one who gets turned on by that word (knowing its meaning) regardless of what it sounds like?
