I been emailing school officials in my former hometown about anti gay attitudes and the new principal is very pro gay and wants to hear more about my experience there. They previously ignored all my emails and the new person in charge is very nice and wants to hear more about it. I am so excited beyond words. It is a miracle that i can finally make a difference in other people's life.
I'm glad you have a principal who wants to hear you out. One of my previous principals listened to me a bit and then did nothing. But that school doesn't even teach sex education.
Yeah I did graduate graduate in 2010 but i am dedicated to improving the lives of future classmates. This new principal was so nice and gracious and urged me to contact her about my experience. Sounds like history in the making.
That's great! Just because you had a crappy experience, doesn't mean you shouldn't try and improve the lives of others. A golden star and a high five for you! :eusa_clap(&&&)
Congratulations! This type of stuff doesn't happen enough unfortunately. I'm glad that you have the courage and determination to use this opportunity to your advantage and are trying to make a difference. Hopefully you will make a difference. Good luck.
The principal said she had been a former counselor 13 years ago and created a glbt support group while she was there and than left to do other things. She is now back in the picture and it's amazing that she supports gay rights. A great step in the right direction hopefully.
Good, she sounds like the type of person who will actually try to make a difference as well. Although I kinda figured that when she contacted you in the first place and offered to meet with you.
Yeah I agree with you. I wish we could meet in person that is not possible right now. By phone is the only way it will work.
Well it's better than nothing. The main thing is that you're meeting with her. Maybe later on you two can meet in person.
Well it is possible but I live In West Virginia and she back in Minnesota. It is worth a shot in the future.
Maybe this is a sign for great things to come, in the near future. No more hiding for any of us. Wouldn't that be awesome?
In that case maybe it's best to just talk over the phone. I guess if you really wanted to, you could try to meet in person, but I don't really think it would be worth it to go all that way, but again, it's up to you.
It should be. My activism and my ability to be honest and passionate is stronger than ever. I was a shy guy with social anxiety who sat in the corner all through out high school afraid of rejection and getting beat up. The walls are torn down and thing should only get better as progress is being made.
In fairness, sometimes threads go a while without a response. Bumping them after merely an hour (Twice, for that matter) or so really doesn't serve to do anything, honestly. However, this is nice news to hear =]
Great to hear you're making a difference. Incidentally, I was exploring the HRC website a while back and saw how they employ people to work with schools on this topic and have some various resources.
