To me, I think having "gaydar" just means I can tell better than a straight individual can when another person is either dodging questions or trying to act "manly" to hide that they are gay. I can relate better to their situation so I think I have this ability to tell in many cases when someone is trying to hide it. Thoughts?

I get ''The Look'' from some girls sometimes.. It's a really strong look in the eyes. I don't know I can just read some people. Gaydar is real.. Some people have it better then others.. I have an alright gaydar so far. Lots of cute feminine girls I see who tick my gay box have turned out to be Bi/Lesbian. Gaydar just means you can evaluate a person based on what you do related to your gayness to see if they have the same traits. Okay i'm really not too smart on this subject so i'll leave it at that :icon_wink

Maybe it's recognizing patterns and behaviors we exhibited in the past while closeted that would go over the average straight person's head. Or it's a lucky guess I dunno. I think some people tend to make astute observations when it comes to certian things and that's all gaydar is. Sometimes they mean something but sometimes they don't

It's nothing more than an excuse to stereotype others.

I guess it's how some people can tell whether others are gay or not. I myself don't like to make assumptions though.

It's just something in someone's eyes and how they act. I can't really describe it but it's definitely something I have. I guess when you've been in their situation before you began to realize things you wouldn't otherwise.

Couldn't agree more. People assume I'm a lesbian because I'm tattooed and slightly alternative looking. They are wrong, as I'm straight.

This and it's use to accuse others that they are suppressing their gay side, ugh.

That about hits the nail on the head. But keep in mind we wouldn't have stereotypes if we hadn't noticed a trend among certain groups. Doesn't mean everyone fits it; doesn't mean we should generalize, just sayin.

It's not really stereotyping for me, it's more of oh wait you weren't already out (deja vu moments) and it only works on bisexual females not usually pansexual but sometimes. plus I tend to be that one person who is so openly gay everyone else comes out to them first.
