The best way to deal with internet trolls, radio jammers and others that just want to interrupt/disrupt, is just to ignore them. They will eventually get bored and move on if ignored.

Or agree with them whole heartedly.

Nothing ruins someone's plan of spewing 'shocking' things at people like having them agree and tell them they don't go far enough...although admittedly this one probably isn't advisable for most people and depends heavily on the situation.

I like to use a combination of good grammar and humor. Sometimes I just ignore them. You could look up CollegeHumor's Youtube video on internet trolls.

What exactly would constitute an internet troll ... say, on this forum?

There is always the tactic to ignore. Also, depending on the moderation, the person could be removed or blocked.

I think it varies by forum or internet venue, but it's up to you to ignore them. However, most people really are curious, deep down, to see the kind of stuff a troll, an overused and liberally applied term for someone who may not resonate with you but may resonate with others, posts.

I just think to myself how sad and pathetic their lives must be to have nothing better to do with themselves than harass complete strangers online. Then I start to remember most of these trolls are probably perpetually virginal basement dwellers, 30 years old and still living with mommy and more than likely smell of days old hot pockets and ass. Then I start smiling to myself as I click the "ignore" button

The sad thing is, most of them are craving attention, and they don't care how they get it. So if you argue, make them look stupid, almost anything else... it just fuels their fire.

In my experience, the best thing is to simply ignore them. If they get no response at all... it doesn't fulfill their need for attention, and they'll go elsewhere.

Or, if you're a site moderator... banning them is always an option

Lol trolls. The best way? Ehhhh, hard to say as it depends on who is trolling you. Ignoring is obviously a good idea, but if you want to actually defeat them, logic is a good choice. Trolling is pretty much based on the thought of "if I do something completely illogical it will get a reaction." That or if you know it is just for laughs, go along with it and have fun helping the troll. Although I doubt it now, trolling used to have a finesse but now it is just about being a dick :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Just don't respond at all: completely ignore them. They are doing this because they want a response. If you don't give it to them, they will get bored and move on.

    Don't feed them.

Or you need to be witty... but not sarcastic. It sure is funny to bait trills if you know what you are doing and make their efforts backfire.

Block them. Ignore them. Withholding attention hurts them A LOT. If they associate negative feelings with this behaviour they MIGHT... slight possibility... grow up. It's for their own good. Remember if you give them attention they'll be further encouraged to continue this behaviour against you AND other people. For now be honored that the keyboard warrior dedicates their existence to trying to tick you off. They're dirt on your shoe! Just go out for a walk and imagine how much the anxiety is destroying them xD If it feels as if it is too much for you then try to think... will this matter next week? Next month?

Don't give them the attention they crave. It'll only encourage them. Ignore them and move on.

This ^^. They get bored eventually if you don't respond and they will move on... Is it bad that I actually like some trolls though? Like some of the comments that some people make on youtube and twitter make me laugh so hard lol...

Let's say the trolls have you surrounded and trapped in an inescapable corner of the internetz and you had a crucifix in one hand, a bottle of holy water in the other, and a wooden stake in the other, do you raid the crackers from the little bin on the table because you're famished or do you wait for the server to bring out the complimentary bread? :eusa_thin

Always ignore a troll, then laugh to yourself about how frustrated that is going to make them.
