I have found that on average gay people seem to like horror films more than straight people. I don't personally like horror films but the point still stands.

What do you guys think? and if so why?

Hmmm... I have never noticed a correlation. But as I don't really watch a lot of horror films--my husband tends to scream like a little girl--I may just not have noticed...

I completely detest horror films, especially when the violence is completely gratuitous. I can't stand seeing so much gore and such.

I'm not sure if this question applies only to gay men, but I'm female and my straight female friends really love horror, so it seems backward in my case.

One person in many, but I hate horror films...

And I doubt any difference between queer and straight groups, but who knows.

Not sure there is a correlation there.

My boyfriend is a horror buff. I mean, it's pretty much to the point where our first date was going to see the Conjuring. I do find the statistic interesting, though.

I dislike horror films and prefer other genres like action and comedy.

When my brother drags me along with him to his friend's house, we almost always end up watching Asian horror films. They are creepy. Somehow I still get through watching it despite not liking the genre. If you ever watched the Thai version of Shutter, that movie will leave you paranoid for a week. After seeing it, I was so scared of taking a shower or even walking into the kitchen for a midnight snack.

I've never noticed a correlation in my life, and I definitely don't help support it either because I strongly dislike horror movies. I know that they are meant to be scary but....they are scary. I get scared easily.

I'm a fan of horror movies, so it doesn't bother me, haha(even though it's probably not related).

I saw that when it was out in theaters and loved it! I like a good jump scare.

    Aww.

I look forward to the day I can have a bf to keep close to during a scary movie or, depending on the movie, him latching onto me. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Can't stand blood baths or torture porn, but give me some of that psychological horror, found footage and ghost stories any day of the week.

I like horror movies as long as I can see with it with my eyes closed.

A lot of the horror junkies I know have been heterosexual, but whether this is because of sheer numbers alone, or because they're less wimpy is anyone's guess. I went through a phase where I tried watching every old, low budget horror at the local video store, but these days find most either rely too much on blood and guts alone, Ring-inspired themes, or sex and nudity.

So no, I don't think the numbers are heavily skewed in either direction.

I don't think there's any correlation but for statistical purposes, I adore horror movies.

I'm not sure why, but I've noticed on the horror forums I'm apart of, a good number of the members are queer.

    No correlation here.
As for me, well, I'm not really a fan of horror, but I definitely don't mind it.
So long as I don't get nightmares, I'll be fine.

Dunno, if I had to profile horror movie-lovers, I'd say most of them are straight girls.
