Not that I'm going on any dates any time soon, due to knowing no one, and not being out blah blah blah. But I was just wondering, what constitutes a date? Let's say you go out for a coffee, does that count as a date, or is it just coffee between two friends. You could see a movie together but maybe you are just seeing a movie. And if seeing a movie is a date, how come if years down the line you go to the movies, is it not a date? How do you know you've been on 3 dates, not 1 or 9 or 15? To the EC Community, what is a date in your opinion.
I think whether or not something is a date largely depends on the people going. If both people going out don't really consider it a date, and aren't attempting to advance the emotional context of their relationship than it's probably just going out with a friend. If, however, both people involved sort of recognize it as a date, and make an attempt to further whatever relationship they have together that would be a date. At least I imagine that's how one would define it.
I don't know, but make sure you mutually agree. I once got ragged on by a guy who asked me out for coffee when midway through coffee it came out that I was seeing someone. Apparently, coffee meant significantly more to him than it did to me--he, apparently, was on a date; I was not.
It's kind of hard to tell, at least for me. I think it kind of depends what your feelings are for each other. I know I don't always count a date as going somewhere. I mean if you and someone you like are having dinner together at your house then watching a movie I would count that as a date, I don't know if anyone else would though. It's always good to make sure if you are being asked out to see of its a date so you don't bring up who you like, exes, etc. ---------- Post added 9th Feb 2014 at 07:52 PM ---------- I'm sure that was awkward.:icon_redf
