Yeah, I used to troll internet forums, when I was younger, and now I regret it. I never trolled any nasty stuff, but I feel bad about it, is there any way to make up for doing it?
No...but if it matters, having been a forum admin for years, nobody cared what you did. You were annoying but basically a waste of internet. Same goes for all trolls.
Well, I know this may sound weird, but maybe I should make up for it by fighting other people that troll the internet and trying to contribute something beneficial to forums.
Just don't do it here. I'm an ex-troll myself, and as long as you don't do it here, you're good. I also know of one person whose tagline on EC is "Reformed Troll."
I'll admit, I've done it before. However, I usually went for a political aspect that would REALLY piss people off. I just loved how many people were defending gay marriage. I somehow felt like I was making support grow for LGBT people. Basically, satire is the best method of trolling.
Just don't troll any more. You'll be fine. Besides: Az eats trolls on other forums, I am the Great and Powerful Wizard of Az after all.
I only Trolled one site when I was younger, but I wasn't very experienced with the internet yet back then. Now I've grown more mature.
Ha this sounds like a confession or something ..."forgive me father, for I have sinned, how can I repent in the eyes of the internet?" Don't worry about it, as long as you don't do it anymore now you've realised how dumb it is, who cares?
Eh. The word "troll" has become synonymous what you call someone if they don't agree with your opinion. The best kind of trolling is doing it in such a manner that people don't know you're doing it, which is my preferred manner.
Yeah! On a girl's site. She thought to being a genius in writing (when really her writing was disgusting) and so, I decided to pull her leg
It's in the past. You don't need to feel bad about it. When I look back at who I was a couple of years ago, instead of feeling bad or awkward about some things (though I didn't do stuff like trolling), I just kind of laugh and feel good about how much of a better person I've become. The me that is living right now is not the same person as the teenage me. So why bother feeling guilty about anything? Of course, if it was recent, that changes it. But still. It's about who you are now and who you're becoming, the past you hardly matters. Learn from your mistakes, don't let them get you down.
Trolling...is inherent in my nature. I try and stop it sometimes, but I can't seem to, like I'm just built to be a bit of a dick. I mean I'm not a malicious person or anything, I don't do anything particularly cruel, I just can't pass up on an opportunity to mess with people, more so in real life than online. If you feel bad, just stop trolling. Easy.
I never did get why people trolled. Then again, I was never super active on any forums. Anyways, despite my dislike of trolls, as long as you stopped then I don't have a problem with you. A word of advice though; if I may submit it? Don't troll trolls. By all means, contribute to the different forums out there, but trolling trolls has hidden tolls.
meh...OP just keep from doing it and all is well. I've owned/operated two forums in the past. One had some major trolls and like Ellie said, people just ignore them and when they leave or get booted they are pretty much forgotten. Making up for it may not do much. Just sit back on forums and enjoy the ride and life is good. We all have messed up things we've done in the past friend
For SHAME you young whippersnapper! You must be punished! Right then, repeat the following 1,000 times
That was me! I'm using a new tagline for the new year, but I'm likely to put "reformed troll" (along with "token LGBT conservative/libertarian", video game references, and "I like turtle!") somewhere in my posts.
