As a writer I find that sometimes I get really into a particular word. For instance, right now I'm a bit obsessed with the word "cacophony" and the way it sounds like what it means and sticks in your throat like it's too crowded to come out. Curious if anyone else has a word like this? :icon_bigg

I adore the word 'plethora'. And yes, my obsession started with "The Three Amigos". I also like proctor, because it sounds dirty and I have a really juvenile sense of humor.

I'm kind of a vocabulary geek (I have a word of the day every day in my English class xD).

Some of my favorite words include Ephemeral, Diaphanous, and Cachinnate, which mean very short-lived, very sheer and light, and to laugh loudly and without restraints respectively.

Serendipitous. The discovery of the £10 note under my shoe was serendipitous.

To me, it just feels like a whole new level of anger.

Only one? I love many words! I use "reckon" and "pretty" a lot. And "mephistophelian" is really cool. My bf called me it and I never forgot it. I'm quite fond of scientific drug names as well. It's therapeutic to write them out.

I'm breaking the fancy word chain.

    I LOVE THE WORD FLUFFY.

Fluffy is just so fluffy... ^_^

(I do actually have other favourites that are longer and lesser-known words, but... Nothing shall ever win against my little fluffy word. ~)

I've given this some thought, and I think my favorite word might be "damn". It's the least offensive of the offensive things you can get away with saying in mixed company and on network TV.

    "Thrashhard." Don't ask. I don't even think it's a real word.

Dude, this song is so thrashhard!

I would have to say one of the words I like most is rendezvous. I even hear an older trance track in my head every time I think or say it.

The other one that comes to mind is escape. After watching finding nemo I still have to remember to say it properly. There's also a track that plays in my head for this word too.

I really enjoy the words diatomaceous/diatomaceous earth (a naturally occurring rock that is easily crumbled into a fine powder), invaginate (to sheath, or fold in on itself), and lutetium (element number 71). I know they are super awk and don't really come up in conversation like ever, but they make me feel weird in a good way when I hear/use them. (Side note: there are tons of other words that make me melt, but I just cant think of them right now and it makes me pretty angry right now)

"Shiny." -One of the best known words in the 'verse.

I like Miranda too, although its a bit calm-damaging.

Shiny's definitely better though, it sends out a signal that can't be stopped, like a River after a gorram dam breaks, or a Leaf on the Wind.

My favorite word has and probably always will be Evanescence.

It's a beautifully dark and poetic word

FAGUS! At a garden centre my sister found a tree called a fagus she thought it was funny because it sounds like faggot. anytime we fight I just say with a serious expression 'oh my god your such a fagus! Never fails to make her laugh and end the argument
