You could do a two year degree for physical therapy assistant. You could see if you like it enough to go on for the other four years.

That's a great idea. One of my coworkers takes PT prerequisite courses at a community college. She plans to transfer the credits to a college/university that has a PT program.

The only problem with this option is that admissions tend to be competitive. As a transfer student, you're fighting for spots alongside undergrad students in the 2+4 program who failed to meet requirements, such as GPA. So you would need to work hard for those high grades in community college, such that you're a viable candidate upon applying to the program.

Not always. Depending on the college, if you don't meet GPA, you don't get into the program. It really depends on the program and college. At the community college I went to, they had a nursing program and wouldn't look at anyone who had a C on their transcript.

On the other hand, if you can't get the grades in CC, chances are you wouldn't be doing really great in the 6-year program either... At least with the CC option, you get a paper that enables you to work after two years, whereas if you drop out of the 6-year program, do you even get anything? I'm assuming not...

If you can get the grades, you'll get them whether you are in CC or in college.

That said, 6 years is a looooong time, so I understand your dilemma.

I think many of us if not all of us feel that way about are studies at one point or another. However if it is something you know you like then you know that the ends justify the means

Oh okay, sorry for being misleading. It definitely depends on the rules set by the college.

At my university, despite not meeting the GPA, undergrads enrolled in the program will automatically be re-evaluated by the department for admission into the professional years. Some of my friends went through this process.

This policy is advantageous for those who barely met the minimum grades but can attempt to prove that they deserve the spot, e.g. letters of recommendation from faculty, employers, etc.

So I guess it works either way in that an undergrad not meeting GPA is either not even considered or is re-evaluated.
