Hi, all. Just curious how many of you live in a US state or another country where same-sex marriage is legal. I live in Massachusetts where same-sex marriages started in 2004, the first US state to make it legal.

Sadly, it's not legal here. West Virginia is so ass-backwards.

Yes, Washington. Before marriage, we had a period when same sex civil unions were available.

Yep, gay marriage is legal here in Denmark and 79% of the population is in favor of it. Which I think is one of the highest numbers in the world.

No. Ironically I live in Oregon - the state supposed to be filled with hippies and liberals....yet we don't have same sex equality and f***ing TEXAS of all states just deemed the ban on same sex marriage unconstitutional.

I am ashamed of my state and the phony hipster asses who live here....

Sorry, FrozenFae, that is unbelievable for Oregon. The Texas decision just nails it that the US Supreme Court is going to take up this issue in 2015.

Yeah, you'd think... We've got civil unions but it's the closest we've got. But I've heard they're talking about abolishing the ban within the next couple years.

Actually, since Washington's had gay marriage, I know a few couples who've traveled upstate to get married. So, I think Oregon, to its credit, recognizes marriages in another state?

Not legal here just yet. There's a court case that will probably be heard soon, and Governor Nixon will probably tell the AG Chris Koster (Who switched from a republican to a democrat in 2007) either:
    1. Don't support the ban in court
    2. Do what Virginia's AG did and fight against the ban with the plaintiffs.

We are however surrounded by two states (Iowa and Illinois) that have marriage equality, and Oklahoma and Kentucky may get it soon, depending on court decisions.

Yep! Its legal in Canada, thankfully  But there are two provinces and two territories where it aren't yet. But its been legal in most parts since 2003 (or 2001 when it was iffy on legality)!

Yeah, and although I'm going to college in a year, I'm probably gonna keep it that way.
