Just another random topic of interest that popped into my head. Basically, if you could rename yourself, WHAT would your name be. This isn't just for trans members, this is for everyone heheh.

Personally, I'm not sure myself right now, and I'll get BACK to you guys :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My name would be Ember or I would erase my name altogether.

I actually did rename myself. My name used to be Nick, but I had it legally changed to Adrian in July of last year. It was a rather expensive affair; I'd estimate the total cost was $300 between the court filing fee, having to run a newspaper add for three weeks, and various smaller document fees to Vital Statistics.

I actually like my name (Jordan) so I don't think I change it. If I did it would probably be another J name - Josh, Jeremy, or Jay. I like Jay because it reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer forgot his middle name. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Actually I like my name Erik the way it is, it's not like "out there" weird or obscure, but it's not super-common, especially when the name is spelled correctly: with the K!

Though if I did have to change it, maybe I would Finnishize the name (and thus weirdize it around here) and change it to Erkki in honor of my Finnish roots (and just cuz I think it's a cool name). When I have to name my characters in video games I usually name them Erkki. Fits especially well in high fantasy RPG-type games with elves and dragons and all that, for example Tolkien was heavily influenced by Finnish mythology.

I don't go by my given name, so I'd change it to my nickname. The one biggest thing that I've been planning on doing is having my middle name legally changed. I have two middle names, and on my birth certificate, there's no space and so it's two names squished into one. My Social Security card has both of them separate, and my driver's license has them hyphenated. I want them hyphenated.

Oh hey, I remember you posting about that. Seriously. You're not a Nick at all.

As for me...well. But should I get to rename myself anything, maybe Xavier? People tell me I look like one.

Ah I like that name, reminds me of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, best known for constructing a gigantic wall across Great Britain marking the conquest of Britannia under the Roman Empire... and for being a homo trapped in an unhappy sham marriage to Vivia Sabina but who meanwhile found happiness in the arms of his twink boytoy lover Antinous, whom Hadrian obsessed over.

I'm fine where I am with this. Since I never, ever planned on having kids, I didn't have to worry about naming them, but I do periodically wonder what I would have named them.

Oh come on! How can anybody get rid of such a great name?

I have changed my name too. Unfortunately, not to Nick... Maybe that's why I don't find it as satisfying as I hoped it would be.

I'd change it to the name I'm supposed to have, instead of the Swedish corruption of it that I have.

I would pick a gender neutral name. Or a name that speaks to me. Azrael for example.

I've grown quite fond of my name over the years though I wish it wasn't as popular. If anything I would just go by my middle name.

If I could rename myself, I would probably choose something different from my current name, but I don't quite know what I'll pick. Probably a neutral name...

Dionysus or Apollo . I just love names of old Greek Gods, they're so majestic.

It is fucking expensive. In total mine was roughly the same as yours I think. The name change itself was 180, and then publishing was 120 something I think. Ridiculous, but totally worth it. I changed mine to Ruthven, and also changed the middle and last name too. And now all I have to do is change it with ss, about to go up the street and drop the application and everything in the mailbox in a bit actually.
