Friends and Looks

    I had someone tell me the other day that he couldn't be my friend because I am ugly and he does not have ugly friends, and then he said that he was surprised that I had friends at all because of my looks. I thought that was a hateful comment but it got me thinking. Why do some people judge you for your looks if they are only going to be a friend?

    Friends are suppose to accept you for you. Love you for you no matter how you look so why should looks matter? I think it shouldn't but apparently to some people looks are important in a friendship.

    WTF?!?!?

    In all honesty, his honesty served you best by you not being associated with such vapid and shallow person.

    I personally think friendships are forged first based on common interests and views and evolve into more mature relationships. Looks are unimportant for friendship. Even for romantic relationships, they are not the be all end all.

    he's a d-bag. though, don't kid yourself, people do have preferences towards attractive people whether they say so or not, as many studies have shown.

    That guy is an absolute jerk.

    I don't think appearance has much of an impact on any of the friendships that I've had. It's been very rare that I've had any attraction at all to any of my friends.

    lol ... there was a reality show on TV showing some girl saying she don't have ugly friends.
    she was dumb as a rock during all the show xD
    so I think u should be GLAD he isn't your friend, u don't want to have friends like him anyway :wink:

    I'm not getting what's wrong here, I always judge my friends based on looks or other good looking people choose to be friends with me or something plus guys always objectify me so I thought it was normal? Isn't it like that for everyone?

    You don't get what is wrong? You think what this guy said to me was okay? No, I am sorry. I don't think it is normal. He has a right to choose his friends based off looks but to be a jerk about it is NOT okay!
