I just heard about it again for the first time in forever and it's got me interested again. The possibilities in the dream state are infinite; I've read stories about people composing masterpieces of music in their dreams and recalling them once they wake up, people who fly around their dream world, being able to create houses and cities to explore while sleeping, etc. I've never been much of a spiritual, new-age type person, but this is worth trying. There's no way to force one to happen, and it's possible to wake up with shock after realization or to have it turn into a lucid nightmare, but that's a risk worth taking. There are ways to improve the chances of such a dream occurring and ways to increase the duration of lucid dreams, but no known ways to ensure that one will happen. I've only just started working on my dream recall ability so I don't have any real experiences to share, but I was wondering if anyone here did. Anyone remember having a lucid dream before? Anyone who's experienced in inducing them? Anyone even know what I'm talking about? |

| Guest Posts: n/a | I used to have lucid dreams all the time. They stopped a few months ago and i really miss having them. I heard there are books for inducing them that i think i will look for after reading this. I never dreamed anything important but they are wonderful. |

They're OK, but I never did aything exciting - I may have been lucid, but it was a drowsy, not on-the-ball, lucidity. I did manage to stop myself from having a recurring nightmare by thinking "This is a dream" again and again, and not walking into a haunted house.

I can't really remember everything that happened in the dream. All I remember was the sky was purple and I was standing on a bridge. |

I believe it's perfectly legal in most places and pretty cheap.

One time while having the dream, I made myself stop in the dream and I said something along the lines of 'Why do I kept running? This is a dream.' After a few seconds, I woke up. Another time I was walking with a group of people and I kinda felt the dream ending and I didn't want to wake up, so I forced myself to stay in the dream and I knew I was dreaming but I woke up like two seconds later. I'm glad that lucid dremas are real, I thought if I told someone they'd think I was crazy. LOL |

One was recurring. I seem to remember it was night time. A long time ago, the time of westerners I guess. I was standing next to a wagon searching for someone and this horrible emptiness enveloped me. I felt lost and confused. That's all. The other one was when I got to fly! It was so amazing! I had. hmm, it was like a plastic rocking horse. It was purple xD I was at my grandmother's house and I got to fly around on it, it was amazing! I've never forgotten it. Oh I just remembered I had another one. When I woke up I was really lonely and immediately called my ex. :P |

I remember seeing clocks go backwards in a dream, and working out that I was dreaming, (I got a round of applause from everyone in the dream for realising that). I decided because it wasn't real I could finally pluck up the courage to go and kiss a boy I liked. But I was aware that I could wake up at any moment, so I had to act fast. But I took too much time trying to get the courage to kiss him and I woke up before I had the chance. Damn it! |

Well I went over and started making out with this guy who was at least 15 years older then me. When my mom didnt freak out I knew I was dreaming, so I went a kissed a girl I liked in the dream :P

The thought definitely interests me, albeit for mostly prurient reasons. When I was younger I would have dreams sometimes where I knew that I was dreaming (or at least that I had the power to make stuff happen that was totally awesome). Even recently I had one where I somehow realized it was a dream. I quickly tried to make my crush appear so we could... hug... but he didn't and I started waking up. And then I was sad. You can bet your bippy I'd have a lucid dream every night if I knew how. It's so nice to know that I can be a whore in my dreams!

| Guest Posts: n/a | I've never been able to remember my dream... So it sucks that all my friends pretty much talk about what happens in their dream (we're all interested in dreams) and I can't really participate because I can never recall any of my dreams. ugh. But I'm pretty sure that I'm just going to be really sexual in my dreams haha |

I tried to give myself wings in a dream one time and.... as soon as I thought about it, I woke up and my back and spine was tingling really really hard.. like, it felt like it was asleep but how does someone's back fall asleep anyway? It's what you sleep on.. idk I'm more interested in remembering my dreams.. and perhaps maybe even having a simultaneous dream with someone else. [William : D] But dreams can be so scary.. because your brain knows exactly what you fear, even if you don't. (Extreme distortion of sounds and well-being is what seems to haunt me)

When I realized it was a dream, I panicked because I didn't want to wake up. I immediately tried to will my crash to appear, but he never did, and I woke up. Oh well. :-(

Since your brain may not have a complete image of how mirrors function without one actually being present, people often find distorted or twisted images of themselves in mirrors which then lead to lucid nightmares. Of course, someone who's practiced their control over dreams could use the opportunity to conquer real-world fears and will the nightmare away, but if you want to walk through solid surfaces, find a nice wall or door. |

| Guest Posts: n/a | I have lucid dreams all the time... it's all about how you begin to fall asleep. If you put your mind in the right place right before you pass out, there's a good chance you will be able to control everything in your dream world. The other day I dreamt I was the god of my dreamworld. It came from a recurring dream, where this large object would fall from the sky and annhialate everything when it opened up. This time, though, it opened up and nothing happened. I felt it was because of my presence, so I banished it. We then proceeded to play games, and I would sometimes banish people and bring them back, twas fun. I could control everything... The best way, for me at least, to have a lucid dream, is always to do it mid-day with a nap. I've had so many, but for now I need to get busy with some homework. |
