I just lie down and think about sleeping and then it happens in a few hours or so.

Or exhaust yourself before going to bed.

Try a Yantra Mat! Is an accupressure mat that can be bought online, and really helps!

I don't normally believe in herbals...but there are combos of Valerian Root and Melatonin which are quite safe and can really help

I just lie in bed and listen to music. If I don't listen to music and focus on the music, I end up driving myself insane with overthinking and then I get really agitated and angry because I can't sleep and then that just goes around in a continuous loop of no sleep.

Something that helps ME is making your brain think about a lot of random stuff that don't make sense when ur in bed as your eyes are closed, that will exhust your brain and u'll slowly dwelve into sleeping
Works for me every time, how I know? Because I can't remember anything when I wake up, so apperantly it worked.

Number one cure for insomnia: Get off your computer and pretend to sleep.

Also, screen lights can have an effect on how easy it is to sleep. Blue light is particularly bad. Red light is good. I have an app which changes my computer's light according to the time of day, called flux. I'm not sure if it's available on windows though.

    God I know the feeling.

It's takes me hours to fall asleep, then I wake up every so often throughout the night. I'm terrible about sleeping. I use pm medication, but it really only helps sometimes >.>

I wish I had an answer for how to sleep better, but I don't :frowning2:

Even when I feel completely exhausted I still don't easily fall asleep -.-'

I have a rough time getting to sleep. I remember that last year I would wake up every day at 3 am for no reason.

I generally sleep well, But lately I have been having some trouble getting to sleep. I have taken Melatonin for a while, but that really does not seem to be doing the job as of late.

My brother has really bad insomnia. He takes melatonin for it, but his doctors also advised him to stay away from all screens for an hour or two before bed. Most artificial lights (unless you have red bulbs) will delay natural melatonin production in the brain, but blue light that comes off of TV and computer screens is especially bad. Unplugging and just sitting quietly for a while reading or something in minimal light can be helpful.

I get really bad insomnia from my bipolar disorder. I use valerian root to help me fall asleep and it works very well. It also helps with anxiety.

i try to remember things. the name of a character on a show. what did my room look like when i was in high school. a relaxation exercise that you are not to fall asleep doing, snoring is not relaxing to others. LOL oh and watching the joy of painting, Bob Ross's voice is so soothing to me at least.

I can have rather severe insomnia at times, though the last week has been an okay week for me, sleep-wise.

My method is to take valerian and melatonin pills (a lot of them) at around 9 PM-ish and then just try to exhaust myself doing all kinds of things and not going to bed before I feel tired enough to fall asleep. Which is usually around 5 AM, so I am not having much luck with that at all.
