I had three of my 8th grade students come out to me today. They seemed positively giddy about telling me. I think it was prompted by the announcement that a GSA is starting up at our middle school. I'm so happy for them and proud of them. Just wanted to share.

    I think it's for Gay-Straight Alliance.

Yes it is for Gay-Straight Alliance. While many high schools in my state have one, not too many middle schools do.

No they don't. Very nice. My high schools GSA had a recent social event where there were about 10 students from other schools in the county that came. Was a pretty good turnout for a non public event.

Again this is a wonderful announcement.(!)

Yay  This makes me giddy as a future educator that students would share this with their teacher

I love seeing young people being able to come out sooner and sooner. Hopefully one day, sexuality won't even be important, it'll just be accepted by everyone that some guys like guys and some girls like girls. I'm proud of them, and everyone who comes out.

I told them I was proud of them and that they are lucky . I told them that coming out for me in middle school in the 80s would have been impossible.

I am out and think it's important for young people coming out to see positive adult role models.

That is excellent. It's good when you have high schools who are accepting. The high school which two of my children attend is like that. *Thumbs up*
