Wich Countries or states do you think that will legalise same sex marriage in the future? (I think finland and germany after a while)
I'm surprised Germany hasn't legalized marriage for same sex couples yet. Talk about a country with gay rights, I mean they're building gay beaches. Or maybe they're already built, since I saw the posters for those a few years ago. So: Countries: - Germany - Finland - Chile - Australia - Ireland - Northern Ireland (this would take a lot longer than Ireland, though) - Russia (after Putin is booted) - Japan States: - CO - OR - OK - WI - MI - PA - IN - OH
I really hope the U.S. legalizes it in all states. I swear though we have the dumbest politicians ever here -_- And the Baptist belt....that doesn't help either......
Well, I was hoping Michigan would, and the ban on gay marriage here just got struck down today, so I guess it's time to break out the balloons and confetti. (!)
Countries: Taiwan Australia Germany Italy Ireland Mexico (Possibly) U.S States: Oregon Pennsylvania Virginia Colorado Texas Ohio
I think Australia will, but not until the Australian Labor Party is returned as the governing party. I doubt it will happen under the current Australian government. It wouldn't have happened in the UK without the support of the opposition Labour Party as too many Conservative MP's lined up against it.. but first marriages take place here next weekend!
Believe it or not I see Wyoming legalized within the next couple years. There is both a legislative push and a court case (Courage v Wyoming what a great name) going on right now.
I still think Russia and Japan are a way off same sex marriage. While Putin isn't great Russia is overwhelmingly homophobic and there are far more extreme views than his even if a more liberal candidate took power the potential backlash would probably be to great for him to even attempt it and while Japan isn't out rightly homophobic there is very little recognition for LGBT issues.
